We hired Kari and his team after the previous contractor we hired to build us a deck messed up big time. The previous person convinced us we didn't need a permit (I should have known better), and unbeknownst to us, he changed the sizes on all the materials, resulting in nothing being built to code. The whole thing had to come down unfortunately. My wife and I were devastated and very stressed out, but we called Kari, explained the situation, and he came to our rescue. Kari was punctual, courteous, friendly, accommodating, sympathetic, proactive- everything we needed at the time. He and his team arrived each day to the job site on time or earlier than they said, and stayed well into the late afternoon when the sun started to set and they had no more natural light to work with. He took it upon himself to contact us with updates, suggestions and recommendations. He would message me to tell me when he would be out next even before I could think of doing the same. We felt that we could trust him after having our trust broken with the previous person we hired because we could see he genuinely cared about his customers and his work. I find that there are two types of contractors out there- the ones that do it for a paycheck, and then the ones that do it because they love what they do, they are good at what they do, and they are proud of their craft. Kari is definitely the latter. His attention to detail, design, and execution are impeccable. We had our deck inspected by the city at different stages of project, and during our second inspection, the city inspector himself went (and I quote) 'Wow- this guy really knows what he's doing. This looks amazing'. For someone in his position to say something like that not only put our minds at ease and reassured us we made the right decision to hire Kari, but it's really a testament to his work. Kari put our mind at ease. From the minute he started our stress levels plummeted because we saw what he was capable of. Our deck is now complete and the city has signed off on it. We are elated with the outcome, we've received so many compliments on how great it looks, and can't wait to show it off next year. We'd hire Kari and his team again in a heartbeat.
