In 2004 it became necessary to replace our roof. I obtained numerous estimates and finally determined that Academia Roofing was the best company for the job, even though they were more expensive. Gord, whose knowledge of roofs is extensive, explained everything and promised a quality job. We were not disappointed. Old shingles were removed, new ones installed along with damper vents and new counter and wall flashings as well as splash pan and new w style valleys. The job took a little longer than I expeced, but te final result was worth it. Also, they meticulously cleaned the work area. Seven years later, the roof still looks new (the shingles haven't moved even after a tornado swept through our street two years ago!). We just discovered squirrels have chewed through the plastic vents and, right away, the holes have been plugged up and new and improved metal vents are being installed at no cost, (something that could cost around $1250). Gord has assured me that he no longer uses the plastic vents! The saying that 'you get what you pay for' is certainly true in our case. We are very pleased with the quality of the workmanship, service, and follow-up attention even after seven years. We would certainly recommend Gord (Academia Flooring)to friends and neighbours.

CAVALIIERE JUST A NOTE TO LET YOU KNOW THAT WE HERE AT ACADEMIA HAD TO USE THOSE WEATHER-PRO VENTS DUE TO THE FACT AT THAT TIME WE WERE LEFT WITH LITTLE ALTERNATIVE AS THE STEEL SLANT BACKS WE HAD PURCHASED AND INSTALLED LET SNOW IN. UNTIL MAXIMUM VENT BECAME READILY AVALIABLE IN ONTARIO WE WERE LIMITED IN THE SELECTION OF STATIC VENTS. MR. WALTERT IN WHITBY SAVED US AND A LOT OF CONSUMERS GRIEF BY NOTIFYING US OF THE PROBLEM OF SNOW PENETRATION. WE HERE AT ACADEMIA WILL NEVER AGAIN USE ANY FORM OF PLASTIC OR POLYMER ON ANY ROOF INSTALLS DUE TO THE FACT THE RACCOONS AND SQUIRRELS PENETRATE THEM EASILY AND THIS COSTS US HUGE IN CALLBACKS AND MATERIALS(OUR WARRANTY ACTUALLY MEANS SOMETHING). WE WILL NEVER USE PLASTIC RIDGE VENT BECAUSE OF THIS AND THE FACT THAT DEEP SNOW FALLS COVER THE RIDGE VENT AND NEGATIVE MOIST AIR PRESSURE CANNOT RELEASE ITSELF RESULTING IN FROST BUILD UP IN THE ATTIC, WHEN THE FROST MELTS ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE PLYWOOD IT CAN CREATE MOLD,RUIN THE INSULATION AND DRYWALL OF THE HOME. HOPEFULLY OTHER ROOFERS READING THIS RESPONSE WILL UNDERSTAND AS EVEN CUSTOMERS THAT ARE NOT OURS DESERVE A DRY HOME AND A ROOF THAT LASTS. THE MELTING FROST CAN MAKE ALL THE EXTERIOR WALLS DAMP LEADING PEOPLE TO BELIEVE THAT THEIR ROOF IS LEAKING WHEN IN REALITY IT IS NOT. BECAUSE YOU TOOK YOUR TIME TO WRITE THIS VALUABLE REVIEW IT WILL HOPEFULLY SAVE A LOT OF CONSUMERS A LOT OF MONEY AND ANGUISH.
