After having undergone 8 months of whole house renos a couple of years ago, we were more than a little wary of contracting again but we needed a recently installed interior door prepped and painted, and trim throughout the house refreshed. We took a deep breath, did our research, and found Emerald via great reviews on their website and HomeStars. We couldn't be happier with the results. Emerald Professional Painters came when they said they would, gave great advice, the cost was fair and it took as long as they said it would. We very much appreciated their help in removing the stubborn protective film from the door glass, a considerable effort not included in the original quote. This was by far the easiest home improvement project we've undertaken - what a relief. We highly recommend their services.

Every time it rained, water would gush over the eavestrough, not down through it as it's supposed to. Every. Time. On the recommendation of our landscaper, we called Novak and consider ourselves lucky that they had a break in their schedule .. it took them an afternoon to replace the eaves and downspouts and they took care not to trample my newly laid garden. Absolutely top notch, and nice guys too.

We found Distinctive Designs Landscaping through Home Stars. We were seeking to renovate the front garden/driveway, replace an aging deck and patio, and repair some superficial cracks in the foundation. We had a broad sense of the finished product; Kurt refined our initial ideas and gave us a few additional considerations. The results are brilliant. It took 7-8 days of dedicated work to remove and replace a 300 sq ft wood deck with PVC and glass, install an equal size interlocking patio below, remove a tree and overgrown shrubbery from the front lawn, prepare and install interlocking brick and accents for the front driveway and entrance. They even replanted the garden and replaced a broken stone in the house brick. Kurt and his team were fantastic: they showed up on time, they were respectful of our living areas, they cleaned up the worksite every night and even humoured our curious neighbours. In all our years of renovating houses both inside and out, I can’t think of a project that went as smoothly as this one. Thanks again to Kurt and his team! We will be enjoying their work for many, many years to come.

We searched HomeStars for a reliable duct cleaning service for our new home following renovations. Found the Duct Cleaning Specialists who lived up to their stellar online reputation: they came on time, answered all my questions, and were very respectful of the house (despite its state!). Wouldn't hesitate to use them again, or to recommend them to my friends.

These guys are the best. Our latest job involved moving our house contents to our new home, which unfortunately is still under renovation. Everything with the move went exactly to plan: they came when they said they would, packed everything in the truck in record time, and unloaded our belongings without a hitch, despite the unfinished interior. No staircase? No problem! They worked out a method to get furniture to the bottom floor safely. Unfinished rooms? No worries, furniture was placed so not to impede the ongoing renos. Everything was unpacked in perfect condition, and the final billing was below their estimate! I really feel that Rent a Son has been our partner throughout this whole process. They moved our furniture for the home staging, and two weeks later, they moved the furniture back. They were flexible when we had to reschedule our moving date. They helped us develop a back up plan involving storage in case our new home wasn't in a state to move our belongings in. And they didn't blink when I added more items to move at the last minute. I can't say enough good things about Rent a Son. I've no doubt I'll be calling them again after the renovations are complete to help us move furniture (again!)
