Before Covid Nathan came out to give us a quote and to recommend a tankless water heater for us. I coordinated with him by text and we scheduled the installation for yesterday at 8:30am (as things have started to reopen). He and his guy showed up right on time. My husband, daughter and I primarily stayed in the backyard building our new play structure and they went in and out the back door since it was the closest to the basement. His guys were done by 12pm, they brought up the old water heater (we bought ours out years ago so it didn't need to be returned to Enercare) and his guys got their scrap guy to come pick it up. They cleaned up after themselves (except for wiping the floors in the kitchen) but based on the current situation I wanted to do it myself anyway). It was a great interaction and I highly recommend their services. The installation is super clean.

I called several electricians who had good reviews on Homestars however only Kiya called me back immediately. One other company got back to me after I contacted them three times. I had both Kiya and the other company come in to provide me with a quote and Kiya's was 1/3 of the price; I figured with the good reviews and the price discrepancy I would go with Kiya. Kiya was able to schedule me within a week of me giving him the go ahead. He was very good about communicating with me; he was not able to come at the agreed upon time so he called the evening before and let me know he would be later than expected. Originally we believed there were only two sections of knob and tube in the house, however, upon further inspection Kiya discovered there was one additional area that needed to be addressed and he fixed this as well for the original price quoted. I would definitely use Kiya again and I would certainly recommend his services. He does quality work.

We were getting our cupboards refaced by Home Depot so I also got a quote for a laminate counter top as well, they quoted me $2300. We were shopping around and went to Ikea in Burlington and the girl there directed me to their counter top installer just down the street. She told us we'd have more selection and it would probably be easier to deal with them directly. We walked into We R Tops, we didn't think they'd even service downtown Toronto but the woman working told us they did. We even managed to find the same laminate and colour that we had picked out with Home Depot. Don came out to measure, he did mention that they don't usually service downtown Toronto but his daughter had served us and because she told us they did he would honour it. Don was right on time (note - they do estimates on Fridays), he called us a couple of days later with a quote, he quoted us $1300 (including HST) for the new counter tops and to take care of the plumbing underneath the kitchen since because it was rusting through. They came today, again, right at the scheduled time, they installed the new counter tops, they cut a whole for the sink we bought and even installed the faucet we bought. They made the entire experience painless. The laminate had to be made in two pieces and put together because of the shape, the original laminate counter top that we had had a hideous seam but now with the new counter top it's invisible. We will definitely recommend We R Tops to our friends.
