Great job

Brian was the sales Man who came to assessed my atic n the experience was very pleasant n very humble Man. The company did a Fablous fantadtic job according to the inspector who came from embrige gas. Any one who goes to the attic always Comment that is is a fantic job.
There was a minor damage $30. The owner himself came n see n we had a very plesant time chatting. They send me cheque which i never cash 2 Years ago.
From this recent storm May 21, when Pure Life came to remove all the insulation he said was a fantic job done with the insulation.
I prayed Father in heaven please help me find the Card. I just found it n tired to call them.
I dont know what happen to those who had a different experience, however we all can use some improvement un the way we behave n treat others. God help us all.

Quality work

My neighbour recommended I contact Dominion Insulation as he has used them in the past for mostly “new"insulation jobs.

The salesman Brian assessed my house and determined that all insulation from my 3 attics should be removed and new insulation blown in. I was advised I would get a rebate from the Ontario government of $1K in about 6 weeks time. To date this rebate has not been received.

Re: Removal of old insulation:
On Monday, the day the crew was to arrive I received a phone call advising them that they were running behind and would arrive at 10:30am and they did arrive then.
Both workmen seemed kind of miserable but I told myself, customer service skills don't matter as long as the job is done properly.
The decision was made jointly to remove insulation from only one attic which would save me money.
The work was done efficiently and the workmen were tidy.

Re: Installation of new insulation:
Tuesday the crew arrived to install the insulation. Again both men seemed like they were having very bad days but the work was done efficiently.

Re: access to the attics:
One issue came when it came to closing the attics.
The contract said the covers would be insulated on the backs. They were not. This could be because of the actual covers.
The suggestion was made that my son would close the attics.
In the end, one workman closed one access and the other one was left open because the frame to the attic access was broken along the way.

Fixing the problem:
Wednesday, when I called the office I was told that a call would be made to the workman to get an explanation about what was needed and I would receive a call back. I did not. I paid my neighbour $20 to do the job as I wanted to reassemble my linen closet.

When I received the invoices (the following Tuesday) the totals didn't add up to the amount I was charged on my credit card.
It turned out an error in addition was made on one invoice but I was charged the correct amount.
I mentioned that I didn't receive a call back about the hatch and that I paid $20 to have it installed. The person on the phone laughed and said he guessed I was "owed" this and if I was ever in the neighbourhood I could pick up the $20....

I cannot wholeheartedly recommend Dominion Insulation, because of the above.

I will list out the facts of the situation so that you guy can decide for yourself. Please be mindful that i am not mad and was not mad and will probably not be mad about this. I am not an emotional person in general.

1. The guys came to do their insulation work on time.
2. I called in vacation so that i can stay home to have them do the work. I was trying to be nice because the estimator said that they are VERY busy.
3. One of the guys went up the attic and told me that they cant do their work because the pot lights do not have baskets on them. If the lights are not covered, insulation would damage the lights. (I believe them because it makes sense) he said that it would cost extra 10 to 15 dollars per baskets. I have 24 lights.
4. Spoke to the owner or managers the day after. He told me that its going to cost 20 dollars per basket. I told him that the estimator did not advise me of this issue and it is somewhat his fault that he gave me the estimate without taking the consideration of the pot light baskets. (The estimator told me that they would take care of EVERYTHING that has to do with attic insulation). I told him that i had to use my vacation days to have them come do their work and i asked him kindly if he could do this better for me.
5. He started to raise his voice and told me that the estimator missed the pot lights. I advised him that its impossible to miss the issue because the pot light is right there when the estimator went up the attic. He also told me that i am being silly and that i am being petty. (I am literally writing what he told me) he told me that he is embarassed for me.
6. I realized that he is very unprofessional and he is personally attacking me. So i just hung up because i dont have time to deal with this kind of person in my life.

I wanted to work this out with him if he was being alot more professional about this issue and i probably had 5 mins conversation with him and he would consistantly cut me off and try to justify the situation instead of actually handling the issue. I probably spoke for 1 min out of whole time.

i personally would not recommend

Dominion insulation cranks up there insulation blower adding to get the r value not by adding bags. My attic has compressed from r50 to r10. Always ask how many bags not r value or depth.

Great Company!

Had a great experience with Dominion.
Brian came out and was extremely knowledgeable. He took the time to explain everything to me!
My home is definitely using less A/C since they came to install. Looking forward to seeing the savings in the winter!

Attic Insulation

3rd time is a charm after last minute reschedules. Getting past the scheduling conflicts the install crew seemed to finish the job on an acceptable note. I went from R30-R60 blown fibreglass and the insulation was applied evenly and to the required height but they used cardboard along the attic hatch to hold back the insulation instead of plywood or something more durable. It works but seems like a "band-aid" solution.

insulation

I had Dominion come out to look and get blown in insulation and when they showed right on time! He looked in the attic and I really didn't need anything he said all was good up there above code actually and he could have sold me anything because I never knew and I would have had the job done had he gave me a quote.
thanks for your honesty it will go along way for referrals in the future

Attic insulation

I needed to increase the insulation of my attic to R50 17" in order to meet (and exceed) the Ontario Building Code - my previous level was R12 4". Dominion did a great job - the attic door was a tight squeeze to get through, but they found a way! Very fast and efficient.

Attic Insulation

As part of the Home Energy Savings program, this actually cost us nothing and we were able to bring our attic insulation up to an R50. Dominion installed Propinil Fiberglass (R40) to bring us up to an R50. They also insulated and weather stripped the attic trap door and installed a latch to seal it tight. This, along with our new heating and cooling system cut our gas/electrical bills significantly! It only took a couple of hours and no mess was left behind. Well worth the money even if the HES program hadn't existed!

Insulation of Attic and Bedroom Walls

After receiving several estimates of removing old insulation and installing new insulation in our attic and bedroom walls, we chose Dominion Insulation. The contractors were prompt, professional and extremely efficient. The job was completed on time and we can already feel the promised effects of the work; draftiness has disappeared and sound-proofing has been an added bonus. We would definitely use Dominion Insulation again for future projects and would recommend this company to friends and family.
