Let me first say, we found DrainWorks on Homestars. After making the appointment, the office called to let me know the plumber was on his way and would be there in about 15 minutes. He showed up right on schedule.
He was able to diagnose the burst pipe I originally called about, was an outside frost free valve that had gotten wrecked by ice this past winter. Being new to this type of an outside valve, he explained to me how the frost free valve works and what I need to do each fall to maintain it. He also recommended adding a shut off on the inside as an extra precaution so the new frost free valve won't burst again. He was very professional in his explanations and recommendations, never pressuring me into unnecessary upgrades.
After I made the original appointment I also found out that the plastic extension piping leading from the outdoor faucet to the deck had burst over the winter. He recommended installing a new outdoor faucet at the back of the house to eliminate the plastic piping the previous homeowner had installed. He was able to install this new faucet during the same visit.
There were no hidden costs in his quote, he showed me his pricing structure up front for both my original request and the new faucet, so I knew exactly how much it was going to cost.
