My service man , Dwayne, explained what he was doing as he took my fireplace apart and pointed out the problem. I had expected it would cost about $1000.00 as it was a very old model and I was pleasantly surprised that my "gizmo" just needed a bit of cleaning as the accumulated dust was very thick and causing my fireplace to not function at it's best. Dwayne laid a rug down so as not to make a mess and he was courteous and thorough. He also told me not to turn off my pilot as the fireplace unit works best if it is kept on throughout the year. He was professional and I will continue using "GasFix" repair because I trust them and have always been more then happy with their service over the last 25 years. They are No. 1 in my book !

The "gizmo" that needed a bit of cleaning was the Mercury Flame Switch. This is brittle, fragile component on your Instaflame fireplace that is now an obsolete part. Once that fails, the conversion is a new gas valve and a new pilot assembly, which we always have on our vehicle. Thank you for being a Gas Fix customer the last 25 years.
