I contacted Gas Fix yesterday as I hadn't used my fireplace in over 5 years and was hesitant to fire it up without having it checked. They returned my call promptly and told me that they had a cancellation today and set me up with a window of 2:00pm-4:00pm.
I received a call at 1:45pm from Joe letting me know he wasn't far off and would be there within 5-10 minutes. Joe arrived as promised and was professional yet personable. He worked quickly and efficiently but educated me on the workings of my fireplace while doing so.
Joe explained to me that my fireplace was quite old, and depending on the state of it certain parts might need to be replaced at a high cost. Rather than try to sell me the new part, Joe attempted (and succeeded) to fix the fireplace, saving me approximately $1000.
I will certainly recommend Joe/Gas Fix to anyone looking for the types of services they provide.

Thank you Matt for choosing Gas Fix to service your Heatilator gas fireplace and for this wonderful review. Your gas fireplace has a Mercury Flame Switch which does show a high resistance. Many contractors will tell you that you will need a new fireplace once that fails but we are not that contractor. When the Mercury Flame Switch fails, the repair will be to upgrade the gas valve and the pilot assembly. Fortunately, we did not have to go that route this time and were able to repair the unit without upgrading it. When that does happen, please note that Gas Fix does carry these parts on the service vehicle. A $1000 repair will still be better than spending $3000 to $5000 on a new gas fireplace install. Should you have any future issues with your gas fireplace, please do not hesitate to contact us. We also service pool heaters, water heaters, furnaces and are able to install gas lines of various sizes. Again, thank you. ~ Jason ~
