service 2 gas fireplaces which had pilot lights turned off for a few years
We have 2 gas fireplaces. Both pilot lights have been turned off for 4 years due to us going South in the Winter months. When we tried to turn the main fireplace one we had problems (we did not try the basement one) Finally I called Gasfix Repairs (my neighbours have the same main floor fireplace and have had to 2 fireplace companies come in only to say they need to replace the entire unit at $5,000 plus) and Mr. Dwayne Hamilton arrived yesterday. Very professional he had all the replacement parts for the main fireplace which was rusted out etc etc and my wall switch also was not working properly. He cleaned everything all the glass replaced my little ambers etc etc and it works like a charm and looks new. So that was the expensive repair. Lucky the basement fireplace was fine the pilot came on but it was VERY dirty inside and spider webs etc again he cleaned everything polished it all up and it works great and looks new. We are very very happy with his service. I have recommended and given his business card to my neighbour this morning who will be calling Gasfix Repair early next week. I told her to ask for Dwayne Hamilton, he has been doing this gas repairs for 30 years and carries everything he needs in his truck. We are very happy customers and will get our main floor fireplace services every fall and the basement every two as it is seldom used. But we will never turn off the pilot lights again as he explained what that does to the burner unit pilot light etc. Thank you Dwayne.

Thank you Mrs. C for calling Gas Fix and having Dwayne there to service the Majestic and FPI gas fireplaces. As you summarized so well, we do a thorough cleaning to the unit and glass as well carrying the parts on our vehicles so when there is a part failure, we can still take care of you that very same day. Though we don't carry all parts, we do carry over 300+ of the most common fireplace parts on the service vehicles and had the pilot assembly, thermocouple, thermopile, electrode, tubing and ON/OFF switch required to repair the unit. It's unfortunate that other contractors are such opportunists trying to upsell a new fireplace but I suspect that is because they are not as knowledgeable as our technicians when it comes to repairs. Though it was an expensive repair, it is much more cost effective than replacing the entire unit at $5000+. Thank you again for writing this review and recommending us to your neighbour. We look forward to hearing from you in the future. ~ Jason - Office Manager at Gas Fix ~
