iMove Canada is the worst moving service I have ever used or heard of in my life. My husband and I moved from Ottawa to Toronto in late August 2013 and I haven't even been able to come and write this review until now because every time I even think of the experience, I get so incredibly angry. On our scheduled move date (which they "guaranteed" over and over) they were 2 hours late... and with a too-small truck. How it's possible to arrive with a truck to small to move a 1+den apartment with very little furniture is beyond me. They tell us they'll come back later that night, so we leave our keys and begin our drive to Toronto. TWO DAYS LATER they decide to actually arrive and start moving our things, but now want $200 extra because they didn't realize there were stairs in our place - even though they came inside and definitely saw and approved the stairs the day they came with a too small truck.
From there, the driver apparently gets pulled over and suspended by MTO (who knows if this is even true) and we end up calling over 100 times to iMove, the driver's cell, the owner Adam's phone, to no avail. We're told finally our things would be arriving within a few hours. Then we hear nothing and a day passes. Then, again, we're told our things are "one hour outside Toronto". Another day passes. In total, the truck was MIA for 3 days with all of our possessions on it.
After sleeping multiple days on a hardwood floor with no clothes to change into or anything we'd need (did I mention we were supposed to start our new jobs immediately after our move?) the truck arrives and the owner, Adam, laughs at us and tells us he "dares" us to bring him to Small Claims Court. He tells us he'll leave with everything we have on the truck if we don't pay in full upfront AND add an extra $200 for having stairs (keep in mind this is the guy who came into our place the first time, saw the stairs and said they were fine and wouldn't result in any extra charge since there was so little on the second floor).
Our furniture was dinged up, boxes were broken, and Adam spent the whole time smirking. We paid $1200 plus tax, so it's not even as though we had this fantastic deal.
I would absolutely NEVER recommend this company to anyone.. EVER. Their "office" isn't even a real address. I drove there to find out where our things were on the second day of them being missing and the address is an empty lot in the middle of nowhere. We ended up having to file a police report and once authorities made contact, THAT is when we finally saw a truck arrive with our things on it.
Absolute nightmare. You would honestly be better grabbing random strangers off the street to help you with your move.
