DO NOT USE IMOVE CANADA. Unprofessional, unreliable … COMPLETE NIGHTMARE. Dealing with IMOVE was an added stress that was not needed when moving.
IMOVE was to arrive at our home on Thursday at 8am; they did not show up till 1pm. 3 movers arrived … one mover spoke English; the others did not and had no understanding of what we were trying to say. Movers damaged walls and carpet in old house. They could not fit all our contents on one truck (after a representative from IMOVE came to our old house and completed a so called house assessment). We were told that they would have to come back with another truck, which did not show until Friday morning at 8:45am.
They were to deliver the contents on Sat at 9am. We had a large group of friends and family on hand to help, but could not do anything until the trucks arrived. Began calling IMOVE on Sat at 9am as no one had arrived - we could not get a hold of anyone from IMOVE CANADA and could not leave a voice message as the company mailbox was FULL. We finally reached someone at 3pm and they told us that there was a problem with the u-haul trucks and we would get our contents tomorrow morning at 9am sharp (since we were storing the contents for 2 nights - we were verbally told that we would be credited for the 2 night storage fees).
At 9am on Sunday morning, we once again were waiting on this unreliable company – numerous phone calls were made although we could not get a hold of anyone and could not leave a message as once again the company mailbox was full. The 1st truck with 2 movers arrived at 3pm with half of our house contents. Upon the movers arrival they began texting on their telephones, smoking and throwing there cigarette butts on our driveway near the front door and made NO effort to unload the contents in the truck – our friends and family members began unloading the truck. Once we completed unloading the truck, one mover said he needed 50 bucks to fill the u-haul truck with gas – my husband refused to give anything until we had all our house contents. The first truck left and the 2nd truck arrived 7 ½ hours later at 10:30pm. The two movers stopped once they emptied half of the 2nd u-haul truck and demanded $1700.00 payment before they released the remaining. We had the original e-mail that was issued by the sales representative indicating the payment breakdown of $1000.00, which we gave to one of the movers for confirmation. The mover contacted the owner of IMOVE, my husband spoke with the owner who stated that if he had to leave his home to resolve this issue than the price of our move would increase as we would be charged for include his time. We called the Police and for them to empty the remaining contents we had to give them another $700.00 (after all ready giving them $500.00)
We tried to make a claim with IMOVES Customer Service department – after a number of attempts, we could not get a hold of this imaginary department - especially after they get your money!
We called and issued a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. PLEASE BEWARE. Use a highly regarded reputable moving company – NOT IMOVE
