Good quality product, but horrible customer service run by Phil Warnell

I had 13 windows and one patio door installed. The product quality is very good, but the installation is terrible. I have one window that leaks water, a window that is not centered in the opening, a window with ugly over lapping metal casing, a window that is not plumbed, crooked metal casing again, damaged fiberglass that they tried t cover up with caulking. Trying to get post sales service is frustrating like hell. The sales person Dimitri claims not to receive my email because of server problem. Mike the installer does not call back, keeps telling me the same line "I will call you next week". I escalated the issues to Phil Warnell the sales/installation manager. It is most frustrating talking to him, he likes to hear the sound of his own voice and babbles non-stop about things that have no logic and relevance. He is a very preemptively defensive man, keeps telling me this horribly long stories about how good his installers are. He does not even attempt to hear my concerns, in fact he would not let me speak, keeps trying to talk over me. I had to scream over his non-stop babble to get his attention. Phil promised to send out the technician, I have been waiting for over 4 months to get someone onsite.

Phil, I took your advice and will post my real name here, so this way you know to contact me back to resolve my concerns. Just schedule the technician for real. This is also to prove you wrong that real people do post their frustrations online and are not anonymous. In fact I will be posting it on my personal blog as well http://www.wiivil.com.

Company Response

Thank you Andrew for the review. After this posting, we made sure that all the concerns were taken care of. Regrettably sometimes things fall through the cracks or are not managed properly. We have addressed this complaint internally and have put steps in place that it never happens again. In our pursuit of perfection, we will never stop trying to improve until our goal is reached. Andrew was a true gentleman and we thank you for your business.

11 Windows Supplied and Installed

Inline Fiberglass makes a wonderful window, all fiberglass and stainless steel hardware, with incredible advantages over any other materials currently in use for windows, at a reasonable price.

I had many window suppliers provide quotes (most of them are rated highly on this site) and none of them were able/willing to answer my questions adequately about their offerings (bottom of the heap plastic windows for the most part), so it was refreshing to finally find Inline Fiberglass Ltd.

From the first contact with Inline I was impressed with the rep's knowledge, unlike with many others I spoke with before finding Inline. This company has the knowledge and product along with the service to match.

My windows were made and installed exactly as initially stated, in about two months. Although this may seem like a long time for some, it actually shows very good knowledge of the company's capabilities for a manufacturer that not only produces windows and doors for the local market but for export as well.

The installers were great and did a beautiful job with great attention to detail. They used only quality installation products to go with the top quality fiberglass windows.

I would recommend Inline Fiberglass Ltd in a heartbeat for anyone that wants the best windows and doors money can buy installed by craftsmen that are second to none in the business.

Windows and Doors

I I had a large list of requirements and I wanted fiberglass windows as I wanted a particular colour, I wanted a extremely large patio door and I had several shaped windows to replace. From the moment I started talking with the sales staff I knew I had the right place. Our salesman, didn't bat an eye when I told him what I was looking for and also offered me a better option that I did not even think of. It took him a couple of days but he was able to quote everything I was looking for. In the end the price tag was reasonable I didn't have to sacrifice anything that I was looking for.

The installation crew arrived on time the day they were to begin, and right from the start I had a good feeling. They put out drop cloths everywhere, and immediately went to work removing our old windows quickly and efficiently. Their trim work was stellar and exceeded my expectations, and honestly the caulking looks like it was done by a machine, not a person. All in all, I think Inline was the best renovation decision I've ever made.

Windows, patio door

I am very disappointed of the service that I was provided; the windows were late more than 2 months, many of them were delivered with deffect, once exchanged they worked well. The quality of windows are very good, but the service provided is very bed. They should work on this issue.

Bedroom window

As a homeowner of 10 years, I have never had as much trouble getting professional service from a company as I did with Inline. They were unreliable and disappointing from the start. I waited 18 weeks for a single window, and got the run around every time I called for an explanation. When I called to demand my deposit back, they refused, threatened legal action, and forced me to wait a few weeks longer before they got around to making the window. I will be filing a report with the ministry of consumer affairs, as this should not happen to anyone else. Inline Fiberglass has really gone downhill....

Company Response

In the end, we delivered everything that was promised and agreed upon. Inline went up and beyond what we should have under intense scrutiny and conditions and still delivered without ever getting paid. Our record speaks for itself and we will strive to try to do better as our goal is perfection everytime.

Replacement Window Project

Hi all,

First off I must say that I'm very happy with my windows. So much so, that I am returning to them and doing the rest of the home (including a 7ft sliding patio door).

I had prices for my project ranging from $5500 to $11,000. Most of the companies that quoted could not do the large window sizes that I wanted, mostly because their frames were vinyl and would certainly sag. The next issue was the jamb extensions... I wanted Mahogany, and essentially, everyone offered paint grade wood and very small jamb extensions - which would make blind installation very difficult.

I am VERY picky.. and consider myself an amateur architect.. so I wanted this to look right. I purchased casement windows in custom colours to match my soffit and garage door. Everyone on my street has bright white shiny vinyl, and now my windows "blend" into the home, and not make them a "feature". It looks top notch. Second, these guys did brick to brick (I have a full masonry construction home, double brick). They lined everything up perfectly, as I expected! The casements operate smoothly, even though my windows are tall and quite heavy. Oh, they also made the windows fit tightly to the brick (with the required minimum spacing for expansion) - this gave it a built in look compared to some installations I've seen by competitors.. take a look at the aluminum capping of a retrofit relative to the glass area, and you'll lose upwards of six inches from the brick!

My rep was Joe Rose, and I have now gone back to them - having some more windows installed (in the middle of winter!). They are replacing my old aluminum windows, which are durable, but not efficient. My fiberglass windows have no condensation, but the aluminum framed units are COLD!!

All in all, I am quite happy with the service, and the installers in Toronto (Mike and Tony) were great to deal with.

Oh, and they also offer a fiberglass jamb extension which I used in my bathroom, another feature no one else could do. My window is in my bathtub/shower, so it can get wet.. and painted wood won't do!

Since these guys are busy, be prepared to wait for your order. I am patient, as I won't go elsewhere just for matter of speed of delivery. Vinyl windows = bad.. especially sliders.. Go fiberglass and "feel" the difference.. oh, and their profile of the window frame suited my "Mid Century Modern" look. The competitor's windows looked too "fancy" with all sorts of steps and reveals.

windows

I wanted fiberglass windows for my house and looked at 3 different companies. In the end I chose the Inline windows, through their dealer Nepean Windows in Ottawa. I made my decision on price, value and service. Basically, I wanted someone local who would give me the support to help me finish my project. In the end there were no headaches and I believe I got what I paid for.
