Kitchen Designers Plus No Longer In Business

We hired them to renovate a kitchen 5 years ago. Although the design process was fine, the workmanship was terrible. We ended up with many damaged cabinets, poor plumbing installation (4 plumber visits since installation) and cracked granite. We also could not get them to resolve the issues in a timely manner and ended up going to the kitchen manufacturer 17 months later to replace many of the doors. We dealt with John, who did not seem to know how to get things fixed, although constantly commiting to do so.

We would never recommend this company to anyone. Our renovation, begun in August 2003, is still incomplete! The company tried to get the final 10% payment, but we insisted that all messy finishes & repairs be attended to first. The installer was totally incompetent,used all sorts of power tools, but had no screwdriver!He went through meters of expensive maple ceiling mouldings because he could not make decent, mitered cuts. A second installer, sent to repair some damage said our only recourse would be to have all the intidy moudlings replaced. The company then decided to claim just a final 5%, but we've still declined the offer and the job remains embarrassingly incomplete. We just hope that visitors don't focus on the ceiling mouldings. The cupboards (Cabico) were expensive but very well made.Damage was done by installer to cupboards & appliances. Longer list of failures!Insufficient space.

We had our kitchen completely renovated by Kitchen Designer's Plus as agents through Sears Home store in Etobicoke. We were told it would take about 3 weeks to order the materials, another 2 weeks to install and 3 weeks for the granite countertop to be delivered, for a total of 8 weeks. That was in November 2004. They started on time, but delay after delay resulted in the kitchen not being "completed" until July 2005. By "completed" I mean that they could not "fix" the remaining problems (such as damaged cabinets - delivered that way - which can not be replaced since they took so long that the natural wood finish no longer matches the original cabinets which have darkened with age).

The designer said he would be on site "several times" to oversee things. We saw him once for the final inspection.

The project coordinator position changed 4 times during the project, so nobody at the company had a clue what was going on (very disorganized, and high turnover should always be a warning).

They delivered the wrong tiles - twice. Workmanship was shoddy at best (the sink pipes literally fell off the bottom of the sinks causing a flood which damaged the cabinet underneath electrical outlets were installed crooked our fridge door was damaged by the installer - took 8 months to get replaced they tried billing us numerous times before the job was finished...). That's just the start - there were MANY more problems, but I am running out of space.
