Service

I was getting my house ready to sell and needed to have some work done to my electrical panel in order to pass the home inspection and bring my electrical up to code. The panel was missing the cover and had been discontinued making it impossible to find the replacement part I needed. My real estate agent contacted Robert Sloan who gave him a cover he thought might fit. Unfortunately it didn't. So, I called Robert to see if he would be able to take a look at it. He told me that if they could not find a replacement cover I would need a completely new panel to be installed at a price of around $1,000.00. Robert set up an appointment for that evening with Tim to come over and provide a quote. Being a female, I'm always afraid of being taken by any sort of repair or contract people so I was very sceptical and fully expected to have to have the panel replaced whether I needed it or not. Tim arrived right on time, I showed him my electrical panel and the cover that Robert had given to my real estate agent. Tim took a look and within about 2 minutes told me that the door would fit and the cost to have him repair it would be $80 for the service call and $80 an hour to have him put the door on. While he was there, he noticed a light in my basement that also was not up to code and suggested that he would be able to fix it within the hour along with the panel. Great! Within that hour, Tim had the panel door attached, fixed my light and had the electrical panel switches fully labelled. He also showed me an outlet that would not pass the inspection because it was missing the cover. Tim was pleasant, professional and in the end was able to reduce the cost of my repair from over $1,000.00 down to just $100.00. I would absolutely call on Langstaff & Sloan again!

Company Response

We got lucky here! We don't keep old electrical parts, but when the Real Estate asked, I happened to have just looked at a job that we were planning to do the very next day. Those people were upgrading to 200 amperes and the brand and size were a perfect fit. It was a very uncommon panel or I might not have remembered. Thanks for the accolades, but we really just got lucky here.
