After searching for most of the summer and visiting many sites and showrooms, we decided to have McLauglin flooring do our upstairs hardwood and stair refinishing job. What a pleasure. Jordan, the owners son, came and did measurements and we set up a time and date for the work to start. We moved everything except the big furniture out of the bedrooms and closets and they showed up a few minutes early the day they were going to start. Jordan and Steven got all the carpet cleared out and disposed of and then got the subfloor screwed down and ready for the new hardwood. They found a problem that required Rick the owner to come in and fix and it was resolved quickly and well. We had decide we
were going to get new baseboards and were going to paint them before installation so Rick & Jordan dropped the materials off a few days before the start of the project on a Saturday! The baseboards they provided were so nicely finished that we ended up not painting them. The hardwood was in and baseboards installed in 4 days and we had over 1200 sq ft being done! Time frame was exactly as promised. Any questions I had were quickly answered and even when we changed our minds about a few things there was no problem, they met our requests. They worked quickly and efficiently to get the job done and were always pleasant and put my mind at ease. They cleaned up all materials and swept up every night before they left and on the last day even swept out the garage and left a partial box of the hardwood neatly in the garage. Rick came over later that night to pick up the baseboards they had not used and I told him how pleased we were with the job. All in all a wonderful experience for such an invasive and harrowing ordeal. My husband & I had moved to our basement suite during the job so we weren't in their way at all during the week. I had several quotes and they were thousands of dollars less than most of them. Very professional, punctual, honest and easy going company. My second experience started the Monday after Jordan finished my hardwood and it involved David who works with McLaughlin and is their stair refinishing guy. Same great service. In and gave an estimate for our curved stairs, landing, pickets and handrail to be finished. Again estimate was $2000 less because he was able to save and reuse all of the pickets and posts which saved us a lot of money. David worked diligently for the week and taped plastic to doors leading to my living room and kitchen to keep the dust to a minimum. Came back in the new week to put the final finish coats on the stairs and they turned out beautifully. Matched the new hardwood perfectly and cleaned up every night before he left.
