We placed our order for $15,000 worth of KitchenAid appliances with Tasco Appliances in May 2008 with a significant deposit and identified our delivery date for mid August. In June we firmed our delivery date. We purchased this far in advance to ensure we had no problems with delivery. How wrong we were.
Less than 1 week from delivery we are told for the first time we were back-ordered on the built-in Microwave. This was the first mention that there would be problem with delivery. The girl on the phone actually told us that the product had been back-ordered for months.
This means we will have a brand new kitchen partially complete until the back-ordered microwave arrives, because all the appliances are built-ins. Plus we need to pay people to come back and complete the installation.
It would seem that when a customer places a confirmed order tied to a specific delivery date, Tasco should plan to have product available for that order. If the product is back-ordered at the time of purchase the customer would have the option to make a new decision about their product selection.
However, if the product is available at the time of the order, why does the supplier not ensure it has stock on hand to honour all committed orders before selling additional units?
The salesperson was very knowledgable and helpful at the time of the order but he was totally let down by warehouse and shipping.
Plus, when I asked to speak to sopmeone who I could express my concerns to at the head office, my calls were never returned.
So buyer beware when dealing with Tasco. Sales staff is great -- but follow through is very unprofessional.

- Company Response
Tasco apologizes for this inconvenience. It should have not happened. We are sometimes at the mercy of the manufacturer and cannot control this. Also if its a special order this can take some time too.
