Bathroom renovation

Back in the mid-summer of this year we started searching for contractor for our bathroom complete renovation. Since we are aging, we decided to remove the bath and to replace it with the shower and to install assistive devices such as grab bars, raised toilet seats, higher vanity, non-slippery ceramic tiles. We had consultations and got quotations from three other contractors before we engaged with Royal Home Improvements - as Classical 96.3 -FM listeners we heard of them. Although later than we planned, renovation started in mid-fall and was very efficient complete bathroom demolition took only 3.5 hours and complete remodeling was done in 8 days. George and his crew were professional, knowledgeable, efficient, friendly and respectful. They left everything clean and tidy at the end of every day. The quality of their work was excellent. We are delighted with their work and we are showing our renovated bathroom to our friends and neighbours. We have another, smaller bathroom which was renovated two times already and we are not satisfied. If we decide to renovate it for the third time (the third time is a charm) we would definitely have Royal Home Improvement as contractor.

Kitchen

We gutted our whole kitchen. We got Royal Home Improvements to do the remodeling of our kitchen. We were pleased with the outcome. Any time the project would change for inforeseen events Royal Improvements would keep us informed before going on. From the project supervisor to the site manager to the general contractor they were good to work with. I would recommend them to anyone who has a house project to complete. Should I have other home projects in the future I will look to Royal Home Improvememts to do the job

Bathroom Reno

We recently had Royal Home renovate our bathroom. Although it took longer to get underway than wed hoped, we were always able to get updates when we asked. Once it began, the crews worked diligently to get it done as they knew it was our only full bathroom. The quality of their work was top notch and they made sure to leave everything clean and tidy at the end of each day. We love our new bathroom - thanks Royal Home Improvements!

Main Floor- kitchen ,dining room, living room, study/office

We decided on Royal Home Improvements for our major renovation project for a number of reasons, trust being foremost, especially given the climate of questionable operators in the home renovation field. John, Keith and the crew assigned to the project, George and his team, were friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. Royals suggestions, particularly using one of their recommended interior designers made a world of difference. We were very pleased with Royals workmanship as well as their promised timing of completion. We would be remiss if we did not mention the fact that several minor changes/suggestions we had made
during the renovations were at no additional cost. Our experience with Royal Home Improvements was nothing but positive...

Follow-up to Condo Reno - complete kitchen, 2 bathrooms & all floors.

We would like to acknowledge and thank Keith, Director of Operations at Royal Home Improvements. Subsequent to the completion of a pretty, significant condo renovation 1-1/2-years ago, there were a few ongoing issues that presented early after construction contract completion. Upon contacting Royal Home Improvements, we were able to speak with Keith who listened intently to our concerns re post reno issues and offered to come out to our condo and see first hand the issues that we were discussing with him re kitchen sink pipe installation weakness and flooring uplift at the entrance to one of the bedrooms. Within a couple of weeks Keith scheduled his licensed plumber and flooring subcontractor to make the needed repairs. Keith also came by our condo to check in and brought a replacement bathroom faucet (original must have had a faulty cartridge as we experienced a slow, water leak from the onset of the original reno installation). Overall, we were pleased with the renovations, including the quality of the construction craftsmanship. Keith is an excellent representation of the built in integrity that Royal Home Improvements displays re caring, compassionate, great communication skills and also follow-up re after-service care. Again, thank you to Keith! - Mark & Tricia

Too Little Too Late

We began our journey with Royal in May 2022, and did not part ways until May 2023. Everything seemed to take more time than they had promised, and the level of workmanship was quite poor. Some work needed to be ripped out and replaced. They were not professional, and work was only completed to adequate standards after we threatened a lawsuit. We can already see wear and tear in the products that were used. It was a very disheartening experience, which has made us weary of any further renovations.

Company Response

Jen, we are sorry for your experience. Unfortunately, your project started shortly after the President of the company had passed away. Understandably, for a few months, we had some restructuring challenges that took away from the normal attention that each of our projects is afforded.
As a goodwill gesture, we offered additional work at no charge, and even paid for you and your family to stay in an Airbnb while the major work was being completed. When Keith, our new Director of Operations, took over your project, he quickly managed each of the outstanding items and when he collected the final payment, your partner James commended him for quickly completing the project to your satisfaction.

Bathroom Renovation

We had consultations with three other renovators, but when my friend told me about her experience with Royal Home Improvements, I knew I had to schedule a meeting with them too.

My daughter and I met with the Consultant and from the first meeting we noticed something very different. He listened intently while I explained a complete renovation to 2 washrooms (with renos to make one even bigger). He made notes and offered really good solutions.. he really seemed to care about working on this project. After he left, we knew we had found the right company to do the renovations and after reading the reviews we were confident Royal Home Improvements would provide quality results. We knew they would deliver.

The main contractor was an absolute pleasure to deal with. At the end of each day, after cleaning up both rooms he would take me around to show me what was done and also what was going to be done the next day. The main contractor and his team worked quietly and consistently throughout the project. He was meticulous and I am grateful for his keen eye for design, finishes and materials.

Everything happened the way the consultant said it would. The work began on February 14th and by the 25th only the glass shower enclosures still needed to be inserted. By March 12th everything was pretty much done including an inspection from the project manager.

I would recommend Royal Home Improvements to anyone who wants to deal with an honest and professional company who will provide timely, professional, and quality results. Both washrooms have turned out beautifully!!

BATHROOM RENOVATION

Overall, the bathroom renovation work, completed in 2015, appears well done. However, the grout used for the tiles over the bathtub has cracked in a number of areas, in less than five years after work completion. Grout, unless applied incorrectly and/or of poor quality, should last at least a dozen years before it may require replacement. RHI will not warrantee the completed work as it was done more than 5 years ago (2015). As per the info received from RHI, their warrantee only covers 5 years for structural work and 2 years for cosmetic. To me this indicates little trust in their own workmanship. Therefore, I do not recommend this company.

Company Response

We are sorry that you are disappointed in our response to your request to regrout some sections of your bathroom floor almost 7 years after we completed your project but it is a reality that grout can crack over time. We are pleased to hear that everything else that we did for you is still in working order and you are apparently happy with the rest of the renovation that we did for you.
