I had an ant colony outside my house that moved into my wall after I tried to get rid of it. The big carpenter ants didn't seem to be affected by the stuff you buy at the store. Once in the wall, you would hear them at night scratching in the wall. Sounds like rain on the window and it took a few days for me to clue in that it wasn't rain! I marked the spot and called Pesticon after finding them on HomeStars.
They arrived promptly the next day. A couple small holes in the drywall were necessary to flush them out but easily repaired and minimal spray/mess inside. Waheed swept up most of the drywall and some residue on the wall eventually evaporated. Probably prudent to wipe it down anyways.
Waheed went the extra mile and sprayed until he was sure the problem would be resolved. At first he wasn't sure since he expected a few ants to come out of the holes but the noise had stopped. Pumped some more stuff into the wall and then checked outside. The ants had fled outside and it looked like the grass was moving! He sprayed around the outside of the house and also some other minor ant hills he searched out on my walkway and driveway. Lots of dead ants everywhere. Too bad you probably can't buy the stuff he uses. :-) The worry of how to remove giant carpenter ants from the wall quickly dissipated after his visit.
I also recommended him to my neighbour who had wasps in her front wall. Must be something about our houses. I saw Waheed spraying the face of the house a few hours later and haven't noticed any wasps since.
