A Sweeter Shade

We were so pleased with A Sweeter Shade; the custom-made products were very high quality (silk drapes, linen, cotton and canvas blinds) and the service was exceptional. Roger and Madonna are a great team: an expert installer and an artist with a wonderful aesthetic and keen eye for design. They stayed in frequent contact with us throughout the process, and were very responsive. They also spent a great deal of time (including evenings, weekends) ensuring the installation was perfect. We appreciated their attention to detail. It's obvious that Roger and Madonna enjoy and take pride in their work.

I have nothing but highest praise for the excellent quality and service rendered by Madonna and Roger of A Sweeter Shade. Workmanship was tops, installation was precise and careful, we dialogued throughout about details, and my suggestions were always followed to the letter. Work proceeded right on schedule, and they came to the house more than once to measure and confirm details. They were always concerned that what they provided was the best, and took pride in their work. They created and installed two complicated historically-shaped valences for me that needed a lot of fussing, and they happily co-operated with me in experimenting with and adjusting the template to come up with just the right contour that I wanted. They also made sheers and reworked some drapes for me. In addition, they speedily re-upholstered to perfection two large armchairs, six dining room chairs, and one miscellaneous chair for me, within a short period of time. This I appreciated so much because I was trying to get everything done quickly within a grand redecorating scheme. The upholstery job was very tricky because of having to align the pattern just so, and position something exactly in the middle of the seat, but it was done exquisitely, and has drawn much admiration from my visitors. I appreciated having honest quotes up front, which were adhered to completely. Extremely reasonable prices, and great follow-up. Thanks for the beautiful work, care and attention! I was pleased with the savvy sense of design (Madonna is also a visual artist, and Roger is a knowledgeable and efficient installer), execution and advice. I was impressed that it is a friendly neighbourhood store; I just discovered them by walking by, and a glowing report by a satisfied neighbour prompted me to follow up. Word of mouth is always great! It's how I mostly operate. I would unhesitatingly highly recommend A Sweeter Shade to anyone!

I will never use this company again! The curtains were made well but the installation was very poor. The rods were unable to hold the weight and kept falling down. I'm still waiting for them to come and reinstall, follow up very poor. Curtains are now hanging and working well, thanks to VU on Yonge St. and with no thanks to A Sweeter Shade. A very disappointed customer.

I got them to quote on two large bench cushions for a banquette I had just had made. Their quote came in at half the price I was quoted up the street.
The quality of the end product is excellent, and they were finished on time.
