Lennox central air unit, and BBQ gas line

Living in a new suburb, we are inundated with door to door type salesmen, all of whom claim to have the lowest prices in Durham region. However, these folks were all from Toronto, and I prefer to deal with local businesses. We noticed a Comfort Shoppe van at one of our neighbour's home, so we decided to give them a call. Speaking with Glenn was a pleasant and informative experience, so we decided to go ahead with the work. The HVAC guys arrived promptly at 9:30, laid down drop clothes to protect our floors, and got to work. They were very professional and pleasant while in our home. All in all, I will certainly recommend Comfort Shoppe to other consumers. Their prices won't be "the lowest in Durham region" but in my opinion, the extra investment is worthwhile, knowing I am supporting a local business, and knowing that I can return to Comfort Shoppe for years to come.

Thank You Carol and Ken for the review . I will admit we are not the most economical option however we are not the most expensive either . for us to exist over 25 years and have money to reinvest we must have enough capital to continue to reinvest and offer quality resources . What many people dont see is the amount of time typically 2 hours or so of pre job planning ordering as well as layout time and meetings to ensure we try to get it as right as possible . I understand you can pick many other places around . i want you to deal with The Comfort Shoppe because we strive to be the best ! Enjoy guys ---- Glenn

Electric furnance and heat pump

We are so happy with our new electric furnace and heat pump from the Comfort Shoppe. We had been searching for a suitable heat pump for a few years. We received expert advice from Glen on which would be the most efficient unit for us. Two very professional and friendly employees installed our units to our satisfaction. Thanks for the excellent work, Comfort Shoppe.

Thank You Gord for the review ,in this case I am used to dealing with situations where people can have natural gas but do not want it in their home for various reasons . In Gord's case going with an all electric heat pump system is just as sensible as doing a complete once over to go to natural gas . Also not having yet another utility to pay for with their customer charges and billing cycles is another reason why customers prefer the electrical option . This unit we installed was a very high end Goodman product with a 10 year warranty. Thanks again Gord for letting us help you out --- Glenn

Gas Furnace and AC package

My parents were looking to replace a 52 (yes 52) year old gas furnace and add Air Conditioning to their home. We decided to go with Comfort Shoppe for a couple of different reasons. First, they were the most responsive and accommodating to all of our questions, offered the best turnaround and assisted with the application for a new gas line to the house. They arrived on as scheduled and completed the work in a very professional, efficient and timely manner. Job site was left nice a clean and they managed to rid us of the old tank which was installed inside. A job well done and priced very competitively.

I highly recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade or add either to their home.

Yes Bernie you were right a 52 year old furnace that had old Oil burner and an ancient control system. its like having a new heat system for the very first time. The new furnace has the ECM motor for very quiet start and run as well as a modern control system which takes your efficiency from 55% to 95% saving your
parents hydro as well as money on the fuel. They were on oil and the savings with gas will pay back the furnace in less than 3 years as well there is rebates to assist. Were glad to help your parents out with the decision to switch from Oil to Natural gas . Thanks for the review

installation of new water heater

the 2 gentleman who did the install and removal of old unit were fantastic..very professional ,very efficient, very clean, and extremely helpful in explaining the operation of the new unit. Our old unit had shut off because of a bottom leak and was in need of replacing and after speaking to Tina a new unit was arranged to be installed within 6 hours. This is the third time i have dealt with The Comfort Shoppe and they are just the best you can get.If you aren't calling them you are wasting your time and your money.

$1,800.00

Barry had a problem with his old tank leaking and we were fortunate to have a brand new power vent water heater in stock without him having to wait for it to be ordered and then delivered . There is one thing people want and want now and that's hot water! when you don't have it its not fun at all. When this happens we have to respond quickly and try to help out ASAP!
Glad we were able to resolve the problem the same day and your new tank will deliver many years of service . Owning your own water heater is far better than renting as you pay 4-6 times the cost of the water heater over its lifetime. Enjoy a nice hot shower!

New propane furnace install

I found the sales rep very informative and helpful. I was going to get another oil fired furnace until I had a long discussion with the sales rep. He had good statistics to show me the comparisums between the 2 types of furnaces. I decided on the propane unit and am very happy with that discission now that my heating costs have dropped.
I found the installers very friendly and they did a good quality install.

Thank you Don! The decision to switch to propane for a source of heat from oil, has been a very positive decision for our customers that have done the same. With rising fuel cost and new, strict regulations out all the time around the oil industry, It was a wise choice. The Lennox EL296 furnace has truly been a winner in our books. A two stage furnace, with the E.C.M blower motor, will cut fuel and energy consumption down substantially. Thank you for the opportunity to provide you a good, quality service. And for the great review.

Fireplace Installation

I have dealt with Glenn on a previous project, which I will comment on in another review. For this project, the installation of a new zero clearance fireplace which was replacing a 70 year old broken down masonary fireplace with an incorrectly installed chimney flue. I spoke to 5 local fireplace dealers to become familiar with the different models & options that might be suitable. In each & every case, I would describe them as incompetent. Their only knowlege came from books, catalogues and their own marketing material, they could not see or think their way through a custom installation. Their sales staff AND installers were simply incompentent (and con-artists to boot!!). But now that I had all the information that I needed, I called Glenn. I was sure that if anyone could put this together for me it would be Glenn. Correct!! In less than 10 minutes Glenn knew exactly what I needed. The next day, I placed the order, 3 days later they did the install. The installation required some custom work, but true to form, his guys knew exactly what they were doing and the next morning I had a working fireplace. Glenn & his guys did a teriffic job, and more importantly, did it correctly, on budget and completely finished.

So, if you have a complicated installation, call Glenn, you will be glad you did.

Thanks Richard ! you have a very unique older house and these presents lots of issues and challenges trying to retrofit something new into something 100 years old . This time we were able to give you a great fireplace which pumps out the heat and connects with your forced air ducted system too . With over 20 years doing this my experience does indeed help me from time to time . thanks again Richard for picking us to do your job. will pass on the comments to the installers Jack and Luke

Replace geothermal unit with new one. Install gas hot water heater as well.

I received several quotes to do this job and found the Comfort Shoppe to be the most reasonable. After talking to some of the other people that quoted me for this job, I got the feeling that they were out to lunch. I personally felt that after talking to Glen at the Comfort Shoppe he knows his stuff and is very knowledgeable. I went with his suggestion to go with a dual unit. I now have a Goodman gas furnace and Waterfurnace geothermal . This has saved me several dollars and I have the best of both worlds. I can heat and air condition with my geothermal and have gas back heat which I can also use as main heating when the temperature gets cold. The workers that installed my units were very knowledgeable as well. They were considerate of their surroundings and answered all my questions I had for them while they were installing the units. I would highly recommend the Comfort Shoppe as a place to do business.

This was an interesting job marrying up a geothermal heat pump with a high efficiency gas furnace . We had originally installed the geothermal water furnace unit in 1992 for John with a vertical loop. There was no natural gas lines there . In 1997 natural gas was run up the street and we installed a gas insert . In September the compresser failed on the old water furnace unit and since he already had gas in the house i suggested a Goodman GMVC950704CX 95 % efficient 2 stage gas furnace ecm motor and the water furnace envision split 5 ton geothermal heat pump. with this combination its the best dual fuel system almost a dream system since it combines the geothermal inherent efficiencies and allows the gas furnace to be used if supplemental heat was needed instead of the water furnace optional 15 kw strip heat kit .
The whole thing fits in the same area as the old packaged water furnace unit and is unusual as few geothermal owners also have natural gas . Enjoy your new system John and thanks for the kind words

New furnace & heat pump system, HW heater

My wife Karen and I had only a good experience from these upgrades to our HVAC home system. I found Glenn and his installers to be very professional and knowledgeable. They worked proficiently in our home and did a first-class install job. We were not over sold and Glenn recommended the right upgrades for our home's square footage. Including advanced themostat, we have certainly noticed a dramatic decrease in our home heating & air conditioning costs. The heat pump system for less severe winter temperatures has been very helpful. With the environmental testing, I was able to also economize with some other helpful tips (properly seal all vent openings and ducts, seal bathroom heat lamp ceiling opening, re-seal doors, etc.). I find their office staff very helpful, including reminder for the annual reasonably-priced furnace check-up. I would recommend this vendor for any HVAC job, as well as hot tub or solar purchases.

this job was another dual fuel system using a high efficiency gas furnace and air source heat pump . The Lennox XP 17 is a very quiet unit and i wanted this as their bedroom window is close by. The added fact was the eco energy rebates generously rewarded homeowners for installing this type of system . Without rebates the added cost plus the payback time generally makes this unattractive but with all the rebates it made this possible . The even heat from the heat pump combined with the gas furnace in cold weather is a great way to go . 18 Seer system ! Thanks Paul for the positive comments
