Action Restoration Ltd

I had a water leak from a baseboard heating pipe inside my unit. My insurance company selected Action Restoration as my contractor. The leak and my claim was initiated on December 16, 2013 - before Christmas. The repairs were only just completed last week, June 6, 2014 - over half a year.

The project manager I was assigned, Thomas, was absolutely horrible. I was never kept informed of what was happening and what the timeline was. Essentially NOTHING happened between December 2013 and mid March 2014. Both phone calls and emails to the project manager was regularly ignored. I had to ask my insurance adjuster to follow up with Action in order to simply get a phone call back on what was happening.

Eventually, work initiated and I was asked to live out of my unit for 3 days. I was told that when I returned on (on a Friday evening), the work would be complete and in livable condition. This was not the case. I returned to a filthy unit that was not inhabitable on a Friday evening with no recourse except to clean it myself so I could have a place to live in. I also subsequently find out that Thomas, the project manager, left for a multi-week vacation the next day. He left me hanging with a mess. Also, multiple items were broken in my unit - baseboards, closet doors, scratches on cabinets, metal heating covers along baseboards, door did not close properly, missing bath rug, and even pee stain on my toilet seat etc.

Eventually, another project manager with Action - Sharon - got everything taken care of. I appreciate her assistance on getting my place fixed up.

I cannot in good faith recommend anybody to ever hire Action Restoration for anything. And if you are assigned the same project manager, Thomas, that I was - good luck to you.

This company was sent by my insurance company to fix damage to our roof which caused leaking, and water damage to the interior of my home. If I had my time back I would have slammed the door in their face and demanded my insurance company send someone, anyone, else over.

Two years since the damage occurred, I am finally, somewhat close to having the project finished, but, still cannot say that I am happy with the results.

After their first attempt to repair and reshingle my roof, the very first rainfall caused leaking worse than what had prompted the initial claim to my insurance company! They eventually managed to get that under control a few weeks later.

The interior damage repair has been beyond a nightmare! I had huge gaping holes in the drywall of my ceiling and walls for almost an entire summer. Once their drywall and paint people finally came to get the job done, they did such a poor job, I've lost track of how many times I had to get them back to fix that sloppy work. In addition to the inconvenience of these multiple trips with wet paint and plaster in my house, I got the bonus thrill of getting to clean up after them, as they didn't feel the need to do that!

The flooring person they sent over used brute force to try to remove a slightly raised tile, which, of course, caused the tile to crack and, since we didn't have extra tile, necessitated the entire bathroom floor to be done.

If I'm being honest, I have to, sadly, say that my house now looks worse than when they started their work here; something that should never be the case with restoration or renovations. I'm sure that in order to list my house for sale (as we plan to in the near future), I will have to pay someone else to come in and clean up all the poor quality 'loose ends' they left here.

Between the shoddy work, the poor communication (both internally and with us), and the ridiculous time frame (two years!!) that it's taken to complete this job, I would never, ever recommend this company to my worst enemy!

We had some flooding issues in our basement and called a few contractors. Action was very prompt and professional. All of the quotes were pretty close but the individual from Action seemed to have more knowledge and potential issues so we decided to go with them. The work was completed as expected and they did a few extra things to minimise any damage should another flood happen. Overall is was good work.

Had a leak in the upstairs toilet, wrecked drywall and flooring. They came to my house on a weekend with a crew and got the job done right there. I did not choose them, since they were provide by the insurance company, but if I had the choice, I would call them!
