CGA Iron Works

I presented CGA with a design for an outdoor railing and we agreed on a price (in writing) on July 19th, 2019 with 50% paid upfront for material.

After numerous UNANSWERED phone calls and many, many Emails it became VERY clear that he was not going to respond to me and I therefore intend to take this to the next level.

I WOULD NOT recommend this company to ANYONE and advise them to look elsewhere and avoid the frustration and betrayal that I feel

Chris does not return call, never an answer on the phone, phone # under google does not accept inbound calls. not a trust worthy business or person in any manner at all.....

I hired Chris owner of CGA Iron Works to complete the installation of 3 iron gates for the entrance to my back yard in Aug 2016. It is now Dec 2016 and he has my $1000.00 deposit and $1500.00 of material that I gave to him.

This was supposed to be a 6 week job and it is now Dec and he won’t return my phone calls or text messages. He has my deposit and material and I am having trouble even getting a hold of him when I go to his shop since he is never there. At this point I have to go to small claims court to get my money back. For the past 4 months all he came up with was one excuse after another, car broke down, van broke down, out of town, etc. He would say ok I will be there next week. When the next week came and he didn’t show he said he was out of town.

As I am getting my evidence ready for court I have found out that he has done this before. Going to court takes time but I won’t let him get away with this. He takes a deposit and then disappears. I have also talked to other local people that have had similar issues. He gets away with this because the cost of hiring a lawyer is more than the cost of the deposit and small claims court takes time. Chris takes advantage of people, he refuses to return my money and material.
I hope he reads this.

Chris (owner of CGA Iron Works) did not show up to 2 court dates and has refused to pay what the court has ordered him to pay me. This shows anyone who thinks of giving him any money and how he will treat you.

I hired Chris to do this large job, he was very professional and great to work with! He sat down and looked at photos with us then had us in his shop to make sure we liked what he was making. The final product is amazing! many of our friends have since had work done by him and say the same things!

I gave Chris a cheque on Sep 3rd for 50% deposit, on the condition that he finish the work by end of Sept. He drove straight to my bank to cash it the same day, but has not installed so much as a bolt, and there has been no sign of the railing. He doesn't answer his phone or repeated voicemail. Hopefully he reads his reviews...

Chris came out to our place and measured up the job one day after I called him. He had the job completed 2 weeks later and worked into the dark on one night to complete everything. He returned to inspect his work a couple of weeks after and to make sure we were happy with everything. Thanks Rich.

I had a contract with CGA Iron Works and the owner Chris Kowal to install a wrought iron fence for the sum of $1,120. In good faith I gave him $560 representing a deposit to purchase the materials to complete the job. He assured me that the job would be done by the end of August, 2009. When I hadn’t heard from him towards the end of August, I called him and he explained that he hadn’t received a report from one of the utilities regarding digging the posts, but assured me that was forthcoming in the next couple of days. When I didn’t hear from him again, I called both his office and his cell phone, but was not able to speak with him. I left several messages but still no return call. I was thinking the worst, i.e., I’d lost $560! Eventually he did call me and gave me some lame excuse but he did return my money. A very stressful experience.
