I will keep this short now and to the point. I have cancelled my contract with Western Bathroom and Liners as they were unable to complete my ensuite bathroom in approx. a 7 week time period.
If you do end up using these folks, make sure you do the following:
************check the contract and look at the Completion date. You will thank me if your reno runs into the 2 month range as mine did and is still not completed
************check the back of the contract and notice the verbage which states that after 30 days you can cancel the contract. Make sure that is still on there when you sign it
************make sure they fill in the correct Start Date. That will be important if they have not completed your bathroom after the 30 days.
************there is a line which states you will be responsible for court costs if they decide to take you to court. That would be very advantageous to them and you would have to fight it in court to get them to incur the costs if they lose.
I don't want to say much more at this time as Western has told me their associates will be in touch with me shortly.
UPDATE:
Today Ron called me and demanded I pay them the outstanding $5400 for the incomplete bathroom reno which was not finished nearly 2 months after starting it. Their reasoning for not completing it on time was because I changed the layout part way through. Apparently this change in layout means it takes them almost 2 months to figure out how to install a bathroom. Guess what guys...this was a renovation and not a new build so things change as you go. And trust me, they made me pay dearly for any changes I requested. One example is I wanted a 6' tub instead of a 5' tub and the cost was going to be $1800 to upgrade that.
Ron told me that I either had to pay them and allow them to come back and finish the job (who knows how long this will take!) or I would be hearing from their laywers. These guys are a nightmare. I suspect the reviews on here where people say they did a good job were simple jobs and these people never had the 'pleasure' of dealing with the owner RON.
The Project Manager Tom and his worker Don are great guys but if the owner Ron gets a hold of you, trust me, you are in for the ride of your life. He's so rude, interruptive, threatening and unpleasant. It's impossible to have an adult conversation with him. He told me 'I'll see you in court and this is NOT my first dance.'
Think of this review if you ever find yourself discussing your project with the owner RON ......you have been warned!
There are so many other bathroom renovation companies on here that do not have any bad reviews....do not put yourself through the possibility of having to go through the same nastiness that my wife and I are dealing with now because we decided to go with Western Bathrooms and LIners.....
