Siding project

We hired GC to replace our wood siding. Signed the contract in September 2012, finally in May 2013 the materials showed up, and sat on our lawn for a month, killed our grass. The work started and the siding was replaced quickly, the siding itself looked good, but the main problem was with the trim. The order was done wrong according to the project manager, so the trim wasn't the right color, instead of getting the right color, they decided to paint the trim. This process to paint the trim was ridiculous, the painter came out several times and missed many places each time, did one coat and made a mess. Overall, the installers and painters etc. seemed to not care that they were making a mess, killed our bushes out front by standing on them etc. nails, cigarette butts and garbage, left over materials left on site for long periods of time. We started getting calls to pay the invoice in summer 2013, but we still had brown trim that was supposed to be white, holes and damage that needed to be fixed and other things we weren't happy with. Finally after a lot of back and forth, we felt that we were happy enough with the work that we were willing to pay the invoice in January 2014. There are still outstanding things that we have been told will be done in the spring. We will see if they actually follow up. Overall, not happy with the service and wouldn't recommend.

Hello Erin
We do apologize for the inconvenience and length of time it took to complete the work. Our production team did not manage your file as per our internal process and we have made direct changes in personnel to ensure this does not occur again. The painting should have been completed in a timelier manner, but as I understand from our team winter approached quickly this past October and hindered our completion until recent good weather allowed. We are glad to hear your comment that you were happy enough in the end. We will ensure the clean-up is completed immediately as the snow has melted and allowed us the opportunity to pick up any debris that was lost due to the changes in weather. When this is complete, we will follow up with a phone call to ensure you are satisfied.
Thank you very much for your business.

renovation siding

i work for a home builder and decided to use a sider that we do not normally use. the person quoting the job was very nice and even thought the scheduling was a bit messed up, once the siders got to our house it all went very smooth. I believe i know what to look for and everything turned out great. They even worked with me when i wanted some changes done prior to their completion

Siding

We chose this company to redo our siding after receiving multiple quotes. They were the most affordable option, but we quickly regretted the choice. The siding went up quickly, but the stone work was left half finished for over 4 weeks. We made over a dozen phone calls to the company inquiring about our unfinished house and not one message was returned. There were some minor issues with the siding that we were told someone would come out and fix but no one ever came. We gave up following up on this due to massive frustrations with never having our phone calls returned. The customer service was awful, I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Roofing

I had an issue with this company with regard to a roofing job in which some roofing anti ice cable was deactivated and water entered the house as a result of ice dam formation. They did repair the damaged part of the ceiling at their expense.

siding,soffits,fascia,insulation,eavestroughs

The year is November 2007 and still Great Canadian refuses to repair the substandard installation of my soffits and siding. Using j trim instead of starter strips for my new siding job. It collects dirt and debris along the bottom. My soffits are terribly unlevel according to their own rep. He came out to tell me last week they would finally take responsibilty to the unprofessional/unacceptable work they did only to get a call from home depot who hired them that great canadian felt they dont need to bother correcting their workmanship because it was a long time ago anyway.

Siding Replacement

I would not and will not ever recommend this company to anyone!

They were extremely unreliable. Took 3 weeks after the siding was dropped off on our grass for a crew to come after we were promised several times and crews no showed. They damaged downspouts and we had to fight to get them to replace them. The crew smoked on our property and even inside our garage when graciously offered to allow them to cut siding out of the rain. Took them 2 weeks to remove left-over materials.
The install seems to have been done properly.

Definitely not impressed.

Company Response

This certainly is not a normal practice or course of action for Great Canadian. Our systems should have flagged the delay in the crew starting and contact made to the customer. We do not allow our crews to smoke on our job sites and I'm very sorry to hear that they did on this particular job. Our post inspection on the job did show the workmanship was very good. The crew will be reprimanded and our internal team will review process to ensure all of our customers have an exemplary experience. I have left a message to discuss these concerns with you Keith. We truly appreciate your comments as this is the only way to help better our business.
Thank you - Don Middleton - General Manager - Calgary

Siding, Re-roofing, Soffits, Facia

For the get-go, GC was note-worthy. They booked an estimate without delay, showed up on time, wrote and printed our estimate on-site. Very professional. Their estimate was mid-line with the others we received. The Manager, Regan L,, worked very hard with us and was accommodating when we had changes or additions, again rewriting estimates and giving us the paper-work immediately.
The shingle crew, of 12+, showed up and did the whole roof on one hot day. They were efficient, congenial and worked well together.
The siding crew, under the supervision of Tim, where professional and careful. Our house looks amazing. Thank you to Regan and his crews for making our older home look fresh and clean. They cleaned up supplies, nails, extra siding, roofing very well.
Only reason for a 9/10 would be the cigarette butts left in the yard, they picked up about 75% of what was left along with the construction leftovers. We did the rest.
Highly recommend Regan and his crew. Thanks for all your hard work.

Roofing, attic and eavestrough

Right from the start the sales rep was very friendly and listen to the issues I had with the house deailng with ice build up and attic issues. He performed his assessment and provided a detail estimate of the work that is required. Good conversation and discussion around options took place. The crews that came out were on time and kept the work site clean. The people that did the work understood what needed to be done and it was noticable the attention to detail. Great Canadidan was recommended to me and I would recommend them to others also.
