Modular home in Solterra Ranch Kelowna
Our experience with Chaparral Homes began to go sideways when the raised their original quote by about $30K. They were initiallty matching a price from a competitor to get our business. The plans were approved and a contractor ready to start excavations when he informed Chaparral that the home as designed could not be built on the lot we had purchased.
No one from Chaparral had even looked at the lot or an elevation plan prior to completing the desing although the lot is less than a kilometer from the plant. Several interior walls are not plumb and the kitchen island is not square to the walls. The top of the island is 1/2 inch higher from the counter on one side than the other. The wrong hot water tank was initially installed and then placed where the washing machine could not open. The framing in the garage and basement is abysmil. few studs are on 16 or 24 inch centres. The local water utility has threatened to dig up our concrete driveway to rectifiy the water shut off not being functional. We are still waiting in Chapparals contractor to fix this. There is little evidence of Quality Control in many aspects of the process. We were very dissappointed.
