central air installation and duct work
Hired Furnace Factory Direct to repair/improve duct work in the basement. On initial completion of the job they did an extremely poor job and forgot several runs in the basement, removed a cold air return on the first floor (did not feel we needed it). Had to point out all the mistakes to the owner. Company attempted to fix the problem by adding runs with extremely poor quality (improper connectors, excessive use of tape)and by placing metal over a joist with an outgoing duct running in it for a cold air return. As well, in the process of removing old duct work they caused damage to a duct and as a result they disconnected a duct in the wall running to the upstairs. We were initially unaware as the duct is in the wall but noticed lack of air flow post job to the vent in our bedroom. After several attempts by the company to fix the air flow we opened the wall and found the broken duct. Before we determined this the owner offered money to "make the problem go away" as he could not diagnose or fix the problem. He later refused to fix the problem unless we paid him an additional $1000. Before he had our money the owner gave his word that he would make due on the poor job that was done and is now going back on his word. He also blamed our home stating "homes in the glebe and westboro suck" and claimed that the job was never going to be good, again after he had our money. Very untrustworthy and the company has been trying to "get more money" out of us from the beginning by offering services and new appliances we do not need. I highly recommend looking elsewhere if you need any furnace, a/c or duct work done. See photos below that show the poor quality of the work with pics of improperly added lines with the use of tape and no diffusers, as well the cold air return has an outgoing duct running through it blocking more than half of the cold air return.
