Prevost Roofing

Found Marcel through my next door neighbor. He refereed me to Marcel as he was very pleased with him from using his services a few years before. My roof was leaking for the 3rd time in 3 years so I was looking for someone who really knew what they were doing. I had one company come before Marcel and they told me that I needed to replace the entire flat roof. Marcel came and took a look and said the flat roof was fine and the slope is what needed to be done. I found it incredible how honest he was even after I asked him about the flat room. Very upfront and honest person!

After the first big wind storm in Toronto this spring we came home to find half of our roofing shingles and most of the underlay crumbled in our yard. We weren't aware that the previous owner of the house had done a shoddy handyman roofing job and it was falling apart and in danger of leaking. Several months later and we were unable to find anyone to do the job. All the Toronto roofing companies have been swamped and the few who came to quote were really giving us pricing we couldn't afford for a simple high peak asphalt roof. We finally started asking everyone we knew for roofers and someone gave us Marcel's number. He was very busy himself both repairing and building new roofs but because we got his name from someone he works with regularly he kind of did us a favour. His quote was fair for the work required and though it took a little time for him to clear up his work load and get to our house, when he did come he went above and beyond, dealing with the mess we'd been left with including a rotted out roof deck which had to be completely replaced. The clean up was amazing, our new roof looks great and we're very happy and relieved to have this ordeal behind us.

We recently had the roof of our house completed by Marcel and his brothers of
Prevost Roofing and it is with the utmost pleasure to write this review about our experience. Marcel and his team are extremely professional and their workmanship is above standard for the service they provide.
I had received multiply estimates from other roofing companies and we decide to use Prevost Roofing because their references were beyond our expectations. We were very pleased with the work they performed on a daily basis and their attention to details and professionalism was greatly appreciated. The roof looks fantastic and I’ve felt such a difference in the overall feel in the house.

Marcel Prevost has been roofing for decades; his team consists of his two brothers and a son-in-law. They are a wonderful team, thorough, reassuring and reasonable; they did extra stuff for me - like repairing a downspout - for nothing. I could not recommend them more highly.

We bought an old semi that needed a new roof. Marcel gave us a fair quote but what set him apart from the other companies was that he took the time to see what kind of condition the roof was in (we have a flat roof, back slope and front slope). The other companies offered to put a new layer of tar on the flat roof at the back but Marcel noticed that there was rotting in spots and suggested replacing the areas of concern with new plywood. He also removed 6 layers of shingles on the back slope (6 layers of shingles is unheard of). We were also getting water spots in our front bedroom, which Marcel explained was b/c the front slope was not done properly. He also brought in his shop vac and sucked up a hornets nest. They capped the old chimney and added more vents. His men (his bothers) were efficient and they cleaned up the mess and they were able to schedule the job shortly after doing the estimate. Since the repairs, we have had no leaks!

This is the 3rd. roofing project that Marcel & crew have performed for us. We are very pleased with his professionalism, recommendations, workmanship, clean-up, pre-and post follow up. We have always been happy with Marcel's work and he really is "The Friendly Roofer".

I read the very negative review of Prevost Roofing and was very surprised. I had him replace two roofs for me on different properties, a few years apart, and got good fast service with no shenanigans both times. (the most recent was likely in 2004 or 05) I thought the workmanship was good too, and in fact have recommended him to friends since. Marcel should be encouraged to respond to the negative review.

Do not use if you want the job finished - contract signed June 30th, 2008 with 50% deposit - roof finally installed in August without vents - no communication regarding completion of job - had to keep chasing down contractor who had excuses but no reason for not finishing - requested balance of deposit returned - contractor said, "Take me to court" - we feel completely betrayed and bamboozled - lesson learned.
