New roof, skylights, eaves, soffit and fascia

Joe and his workers were fast, efficient and worked very hard on 2 very hot days. The job was done quickly and on time with no mess. There was one very minor problem and Joe came the next day and fixed it immediately. My husband and I are very pleased with our new roof and we highly recommend 310-ROOF

New Roof

Great Guys and very knowledgeable. Mike, one of the owners, took the time to explain all about my roof and what I needed. I was told my roof would be done on a specific date and it was. Everything showed up just as they said it would and done in the time frame they said it would be. No surprises and extremely satisfied! I have recommended to friends and neighbours. The people who have used them are also happy with the customer service and work done!

Roof

In the fall of 2008, we entered into a contract with 310-ROOF to replace the roof at our Leslieville-area residence. Unfortunately, the completed work and subsequent repairs have been unsatisfactory as we have encountered numerous leaks costing us several thousands of dollars in damages.

A brief history of this situation:

Fall 2008: Roof replacement completed. Paul from 310-ROOF supervised the work.

Winter 2008: We noticed water leaking into the house. Paul told us it was common ice damming and not an issue. He promised to visit our house to inspect and repair the leak but did not.

Winter 2009: We awoke to water pouring in through a light fixture. As we investigated, we discovered a massive amount of water damage in multiple rooms, on both floors. As Paul was out of town, Mike (co-owner) from 310-ROOF visited the site, guaranteed quick action, promised several times 310-ROOF would cover our insurance deductible. 310-ROOF conducted emergency repairs.

Spring 2009: The cost of repairing the damage was approximately $28,000, involving several new walls and new hardwood flooring throughout the house, all completed via our insurance company. The work took 6 months to complete.

Fall 2009: Following repeated emails and calls to 310-ROOF to claim our promised payment and confirm they had completed all necessary final pre-winter roof inspection and repairs, we one day found a cheque for 50% of our insurance deductible in our mailbox. There was no communication from 310-ROOF about any inspection or repair.

Spring 2010: We discovered a new leak in another part of the house and soon discovered a further large amount of water damage. So much water had entered the house due to the most recent round of poor roofing work that we had to tear out a large closet and cut several large holes in the wall. Paul promised quick action and 310-ROOF conducted emergency repairs. Due to our lack of confidence in 310-ROOF’s thoroughness, we initiated a full inspection by a roof repair specialist. The inspection revealed numerous deficiencies in 310-ROOF’s workmanship. Immediate repair was completed by the specialist. The cost of repairing the damage from the latest incident was approximately $4,000.

From the above, and through inspection of our large collection of photographic evidence, it has become clear that the quality of 310-ROOF’s workmanship has been unacceptable from initial installation through several attempts at repair.

We have tried to contact 310-ROOF repeatedly to discuss these issues further, but they do not reply to our calls or emails.

Avoid.

New Roof

Do NOT under any circumstances hire this roofing company!
I foolishly did, to install a new roof on my flatroof house.
Well it leaked and it leaked and it leaked.
When I called them back I was told it was the chimney at fault.
I had that replaced and repaired by Clint of Turnbull Masonary. (Fantastic Contractors)
It was Clint who informed me that the roof had never been sealed properly by 310 Roof.
They came back again and said they'd fixed the problem...
Well it leaked AGAIN... all over the bedroom for the 3rd. time!
Finally I hired Joe of [competitor name removed--Ed] Roofing to fix it. He did a fine job of sealing and finishing it...for another $2.000.
310 Roof refuses still, to answer my calls!
Don't go near these guys. Paul doesn't know what he's doing and he was cold, callous and downright cruel when confronted by the problem!

Update April 20th 2011
I awoke early today (3AM) to the sound of raindrops falling in my bedroom and my hallway.
I will be contacting 310 ROOF today and will keep you updated on their response.
I know that Paul Hutton no longer works for the company, BUT will the present owners do anything about my ongoing problem... That is the question?

Company Response

Cate called us, and we promptly arranged to inspect the problem and found that an old skylight was leaking. We replaced the skylight with a Velux premium quality skylight, which was installed by one of our Velux certified installers. We performed this work at no charge to Cate in the hope that we could make up in a small way for the horrific treatment she received from our previous owner.

Industrial flat roof

When I needed a new roof for my factory i got several estimates.
When a told a friend of mine i was looking for a new roof he told me to call Paul at 310-roof. We made an apointment and he arrived to perform a site inspection. I was told that the old roof could benefit from an overlay, something none of the other roofers told me, this alone saved me over 100,000 and did not effect my warranty.

After the work was scheduled i made a 25% deposit, the materials and men showed up a short time later as the weather permitted. The work was performed without incident, with updates during the process.I paid draws during the work as it progressed with a 10% holdback at the end but i was so happy witt the service i paid the balance on completion as i never felt at any time that if there was a problem there would be no follow up from these chaps.

Overall I am extremely satisfied with the service and would highly recommend this company. Also their foreman Don Mc Niel had over 35 yrs experience in commercial roofing and was a great supervisor during the work making sure everything was delivered/installed according to the specifications.

Thanks 310-Roof

Company Response

Regrettably, this review is completely ficticious. 310-ROOF Inc. did not perform the commercial flat roofing job described in this review. At the time this review was written, Paul was an officer and director of 310-ROOF Inc. He was actively soliciting a 310-ROOF employee (Don O'Neill) with plans to buy a flat roofing business, and this review is an obvious attempt to create a false track record of success and professionalism for Paul. Don O'Neill was an excellent employee, who was lured away from gainful employment based on promises that never materialized.

As of March 29, 2010, Paul no longer has any involvement with 310-ROOF Inc. For all potential customers who are looking to Homestars for guidance on choosing a professional roofer, 310-ROOF Inc. asks that you make your decision based on reviews which have no reference to Paul.
