Major Renovations

We have used Stubbs Renovations on and off over the last 6 years for waterproofing, bathrooms and kitchen renovations, re-wiring, patio and cement work, new shed. We found Arthur knowledgeable, fair and honest. He knows good tradesmen. His team of workers are respectful and obliging. At the end of the day, they left everything clean and tidy.

Dry walling and flooring in rec room and waterproofing

My husband and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mr. Stubbs and his team. We were very happy with the work they did for us. Mr. Stubbs has a great eye for detail. The workers were very friendly and respectful - always cleaning up before they leave. Mr. Stubbs pointed out some potential issues and made some recommendations, for which we were very grateful. While they were here they did some smaller Jobs for us. We felt his prices were quite reasonable.

Major and Minor Home Improvements

We have used A Stubbs Home Improvement over the past 3 years for a number of projects including a Major Kitchen Extension, New Foundations, Roofing, Re-wiring and Upgrading our Electrical Service, as well as some minor repairs. We are currently undergoing a bathroom project to create a spa-like bathroom (or as close as we can get in our small home). We have been very pleased to work with Arthur and his team does great work and respects our home, leaving it clean at the end of the day (even during the demolition stage). I would highly recommend A Stubbs Home Improvement to anyone.

Foundation/Renovation/Repairs

I have hired A. Stubbs contracting for numerous small projects, such as foundation work and small interior repairs, tiles, drywall. He is prompt in responding, professional, offers advice and shows up and completes projects as promised, very clean, puts down floor protection when inside the home. He is particular to detail to ensure proper repairs, not patch work. He knows structural issues with older homes and is very thorough in basement foundation, weeping tiles and brickwork. If problems are uncovered he does not "run away" or overcharge to rectify the problem. Very good for small projects exterior or interior (carpentry, roofing, painting, kitchens, baths), hard to find contractors for smaller jobs, this is his speciality.

Roof repair, etc.

Stay away from this guy; hired him about 5-7 years ago, wish this website existed back then. I had downspouts installed on house and garage that drained towards the house instead of away (they didn`t bother checking where the property sloped); `fixed`crumbling concrete steps with patch & parging, but work deteriorated the following year (steps should`ve been torn down & built from scratch instead); put in ventilation caps on house roof (when it didn`t need them); Got yelled at by proprietor when I dared to question him; demanded post-dated cheques in advance of incompleted jobs. Wood siding on garage painted but not primed before painting. Garage paint has long peeled off, steps crumbing & in very bad shape, had downspout removed from house.

Waterproofing and repairs

We hired Stubbs for waterproofing, which, although we had to be on top of them all day, they did a good job.
We then made the mistake of hiring them to do some inside work for us. The job was delayed, and when it was finally completed the work was sub standard. We went to them and they refused to correct the work. They also refused to finish part of the job (even though it was in the contract that they were responsible for it).
They also spent a great deal of time trying to talk us into repairing things that were in good shape, and got quite angry when we continued to refuse.
We felt like we kept getting ripped off.
Besides waterproofing, I would avoid this company.

replace front door

Ccontracted someone through Homeowners (who is not in your list, btw- and if they were, I'd give them a -100!!) to replace the front door. The guy made such a mess we fired him on the spot, looked in the phone book and called Stubbs, who sent Bill Carpenter. He saved the day, repairing the damaage so well you would never know it had ever happened. An amazing man.
We also had Stubbs provide us with tuckpointing, done well, with cememt that blended in with the original.

waterproofing, tuckpointing and other concrete work

We hired a stubbs to replace our weeping tile, and he did a satisfactory job on that but we needed to stay right on top of him.

While there he also convinced us to do some tuckpointing and replace a window sill. He didn't replace the sill, just broke it off and smoothed it over. He claimed he did it and wouldn't give us back any of our money. I would consider him for his main activity, waterproofing, but watch him so closely. Anything else run away!
