This company installed a porch enclosure for me in the summer of 2010.
Recently, I have noticed that there is some moisture and water coming in from the bottom of the enclosure.
I phoned the owner, Alex, about this problem and he explained to me that there needs to be some space in the threshold in order for the water to travel both in and out of the porch enclosure.
I also spoke to him regarding a screw that appears to be missing in the enclosure and he explained to me that this wasn't an issue.
After the conversation, I called Alex a second time and said that I was a bit disappointed with how he handled the previous conversation. Moreover, I still wasn't sure if the bottom threshold could be caulked or not.
He became very impatient and irate with me over the phone and said that I could call any other company and they would tell me the same thing. Then I explained to him that I knew people who had other porch enclosures and they did not have this problem. He then backtracked and said those enclosures were probably constructed differently.
I also explained that I was a bit unhappy with the fact that he didn't think the issue with the screw was important. What does it take to install a simple screw? He then said to me in a sarcastic tone "what, are you going to take your own life because of a missing screw?"
At this point, I became very angry and told him that this was very unprofessional and that I was simply calling him to get answers to rectify this problem. He did offer to come over and examine the porch enclosure himself but I did not want him to after being spoken to in this manner.
I also advised him that I would be changing my rating on homestars after being spoken to in this way to which he replied "you don't scare me." This was an immature response and all of this could have been taken care of by speaking to me in a calm manner.
I can appreciate his opinion with the water being able to move in and out but I just wish he had a bit more patience and understanding when dealing with his customers.
He was rude, inconsiderate and just downright insulting.

As you mentioned this porch enclosure was installed 10 months ago. You didn't have any problems until heavy rain storm with wind blows directly to your door happened this week. I asked you: "Did you get a lot of water inside?" you answered that it was just wet spot on the concrete floor.
Porch enclosures are not 100% water tight. In this weather condition storm door can't resist to very strong wind and some water can get over threshold. I think the fact that you have just wet spot in sever weather conditions shows that porch enclosure installed properly. Regarding missing screw. 10 months you've used this enclosure and suddenly one screw missed. I'm not sure that your kids or somebody screw it out. I told you that I'll give you service, but it won't be free, since it is not covered by the warranty. You declined my offer. So, you can find somebody to do what you feel is right for your porch enclosure. As soon as somebody touch the enclosure I'll void warranty on everything.
