GMG Fence & Decks

I came across Gmg Fence while looking up some contractors who do fences, in the yellow pages. Gmg Fence was the only one who actually came to our house and gave us a free estimate. They were quick and gave us the best deal compared to the other estimates we got. Our neighbours ended up signing up with them, as well as a few family members who asked for their contact info. I do recommend speaking to your neighbours and making sure they all sign the contract and attend the meeting with the owner Afrim, so there is no misunderstanding of any kind.

The product itself is average at best. GMG did fencing for myself and several neighbours and although I like to typically hire contractors with good reviews from Homestars, I reluctantly went with them to follow and abide with the rest of the sheep. Work does have the attention to detail and if you look closely you can see many areas where corners are cut. After service has been nightmare to fix problem with door (less than 2 years old and already has major issues with not opening properly). Would I recommend them to my mother - not at all, but for a cheap fence company I guess you could go worse - I guess. You get what you pay for, there are better options out there.

Fence was installed for number of our neighbours as well. Was prompt work done, on time. with very competitive price and what is important with no prepay. After 4 years this fence is still OK. Material is not perfect but acceptable quality. Workmanship as well. Very good 3.0 score. Would recommend if you are looking for economical fence.

GMG fence did my fence for me and my neighbours last year in Oakville, i liked their work and the sales man arion was really polite guy and on time for the appointments, they started the work about 3 weeks late but it only took them 1 week to finish the job for 14 houses. I would recommand them to other people, there price is very fair and work is great. Gmg has done a lot of work in my area (oakville)

I also had issues with the work and service of GMG fencing. They did our fence last fall. Their pricing was good, but they were hasty with their work. Our backyard has a slight slope but they did not bother cutting the wood pieces to different sizes but left them all the same size. So while the highest point of my lawn touches the bottom of the fence, there is a huge gap (enough for my dog to sneak under) between the lowest parts of the lawn and the fence.

They also forgot to screw in some post caps, but we didn't notice until the winter weather swept them off. I have called over a DOZEN times since March asking them to replace one that went missing and screw in the rest. Each time, they promised to come within a few days, they would be in the area, but never did. At times, they were quite rude, saying they had other customers to tend to.

If I had a drill, I would probably have done it in five minutes! But it's a job they should have finished.

I was quite dissatisfied with their workmanship and service. I also do not recommend them.

To respond to what 'albulena 123' wrote '...he even calls you to say sorry and lets you know the new due date...', it sounds a big joke to me. 9 out of 10 phone calls I and my neighbours made were directed to his voicemail and he NEVER responded! By chances when I spoke to him he kept promising the job will be completed in the next few days. It has been three months and it's not done yet when I am writing this post!

Just had my fence completed. It took them almost 2 months to finish when I signed the contract. The fence cost $24/linear foot for a privacy fence with 6x6 post (no scallops or lattace). I will have to go back and redo certin areas of the fence. GMG is lacking "Attention to details" such as using a proper level. I didn't find the 8" level used to be effective. You can tell that the fence is not straight just by looking at it.

Also my one side of the fence was measuered incorrectly and is not sitting on the property line. This was mentioned to GMG 2 weeks before completeion. GMG's repsponse was the post for the gate was the only one off the mark because they hit a big rock and managed to get the post beside it. This translated to a loss of 4". I wish GMG could have calld me about this before placing the post. I would have had the hole moved further down a few feet.

Finally it bothered me that a nail gun wasn't used for framing. That would have made a huge difference with keeping the framing straight and shortened the time to complete the work.

In conclusion my experience was not a good one. I would have perfered to have a Perfect Post Hole come and set the post and do the work myself. Even though GMG's pricing was good, the quaity of work and lack of "Attention to detail" get's a failing grade.
