Company Response

Dear : Ms. D.,

We knew from speaking to you by phone, 10 - maybe 11 times in one week that you were not being rational, factual or legitimate in your complaint. We tried so hard to continually explain what was really going on, before we sent our technician. But you refused to listen, you only wanted to believe your own version, because it was cheaper for you to blame someone else than take responsibility for your own homes' equipment.

In fact, you remain incorrect -and now, you are being spiteful, simply because you didn't want to listen to the truth.

Fact 1: The furnace we installed several years ago is working perfectly. The installation is immaculate, and installed properly to all safety codes. Never one single compliant, until this year when your AC wasn't producing cold air.

Fact 2: NOTHING on our furnace was leaking. You mentioned a minor amount of air flow escaping from your duct system, near the furnace, and instantly blamed this normal occurrence as the reason your AC wasn't cooling.

Fact 3: We knew that the only reason your thermostat was at 80 when set to 21 could ONLY be from a freeon leak from YOUR own decade old AC. And not related to our furnace installation in any way.

Fact 4: AC's can loose freeon at anytime. Google it, its the biggest problem with AC's. Even AC's only 10 years old.

Fact 5: we told you by phone that if your trouble was with YOUR AC, not our furnace, which we knew already, that there would be a service charge of $99. On arrival, as expected- and explained to you countless time by phone, the technician verified the furnace was fine. The problem is YOUR AC had almost zero pressure of freeon. This means your AC has a leak. This is what causes poor cooling.

Fact 6: You were billed $99 for the service call, like we for -warned you about, because our furnace was fine.

Fact 7: You are being misleading for affect when saying we quoted you $5000 for a new AC. We have never in 53 years ever charged $5000 for an AC. Every single AC review on Homestars can attest to the fact, we charge around $2100 -$2300 for a 2 ton AC - never $5000. You wrote that to make us look bad. AND....most scary is,

Fact 8: when freeon escapes from a system - it is against the law to just randomly fill it with freeon., because it will leak out of where is first leaked out again. Thus harming the ozone layer with harmful refrigerant. This is why one of our options, wasn't just to replace it, but was to do a LEAK TEST, then fix the leak, if repairable, then add in the lost gas. But a leak test takes a few hours, and is expensive because we need to pump the system full of nitrogen and wait to find where it bubbles out.. This can take up to 2-3 hours on site, and the cost of a bottle of nitrogen alone is around $400-600, plus labour etc. This is why some people consider a new unit.

Fact 9: the un-licensed technician you found obviously did not perform a leak test, all he did was add in a bit of freeon which is illegal and would get us banned by the HRAI for irresponsible industry practices. That's the type of contractor you trusted over us? Simply because you didn't want to consider the fact your AC had a leak of freeon.

Just wait till the end of the month, or by next summer after it sits under pressure all winter, the freeon will leak out again. Dont call us next year when it fails again to blame our furnace.

Fact 10: They gave you a bandaid solution, did the work illegally for cheap by not performing a leak test before adding in freeon. All we did was provide you up front, honest advice from the start.

Be responsible please.
