After years of looking for the right kind of prefinished hardwood, and a trusted company to install it,we finally decided to go ahead with this project. When on a Saturday afternoon search for hardwood stores in Markham, it was by chance that we came across Kumar and Munira. From the time we walked into their store and started our conversation about what we we looking for, I felt a trust and knew we would do business with them. We give them 100% on intentions and ease of doing business.
They were very fair in their prices and the quality of floor we choose from their Coswick Selection, exceeded our expectations. I am a reator who is in and out of thousands of homes over the years and I don't remember seeing a prefinished floor that almost looks like it was installed and finished on site.
Their installer was an artisan when it came to installing the hardwood, it looks terrific. However, his equipment was faulty and slightly damaged the edges of the oak stips in numerous places through out the house. Kumar assured us this would be rectified before he works on another home.
The staircase was a differnt story. I belive it wasn't as familiar a process for this crew and the end result is less than satisfactory. When they finished installing the stair rail and pickets after 10pm on a Friday night, the bottom portion of the railing is loose and moves everytime it is grasped when using the stairs. I will be able to correct this myself, for a result that meets my standard.
I am still waiting for some follow up materials promised when the job was finished and paid for over a month ago. Having been a contractor at one point in my life, I know the challenges of co ordinating crews and the little details that are easy to overlook.
In my course of business over the past month, I have referred two other potential clients to speak with Kumar and Munira. They are great people to do business with, but I have to be honest in saying the results on our project are less than 100%. The only caution I have for anyone considering this kind of whole house project, is you get what you pay for. They were more than fair on price and if I had to do this over again, I would be prepared to pay a little more inorder to avoid some of the issues that I was willing to overlook. Quality costs, and I know with certainty, they have the crews that can do outstanding work, if not pressured for time.
