Monster Plowing Company

Monster Plowing apparently services a huge area of TO. My buddy uses them for his shop, and said good things, so I figured I’d look into them for my place. They make it easy, like a good contractor. You get your quote and sign the paperwork and done.

We share a driveway with our neighbours who wanted to use Monster Plow last year and we agreed to share the costs. Our neighbour signed up, and we each wrote a cheque to Monster for half of the cost. Their service was so terrible we even received a citation from the city for not having our sidewalk shoveled. When I called to speak with someone they told me they wouldn't talk to me because it wasn't my name on the contract, despite the contract including our address. Funny, they had no problem cashing our cheque! This year they are still plowing our driveway and (supposedly) our walkways but they are only clear because my husband shovels after every snowfall. Terrible work done, terrible customer service, I would advise everyone against using this company.

I've used neighbourhood people to clear my snow in previous winters, but now that I have tenants living at my property, I thought I should go the professional route to be sure that the walkways were always properly cleared for them. Turns out I was better off saving my money and hiring a local teen. I've had to reach out to Monster Plowing a couple of times this winter to ask them to please send someone back to clear my sidewalk. (They only seem to like to do my shortest walkway, which I usually do myself long before they get here.) More recently, the longest walkway on the property has been so neglected that it has become dangerously built up with thick layers of snow and ice. When I asked them about it, Monster Plowing informed me that the walkway can't possibly be kept clear because snow is falling off of my (flat!) roof onto it. The local kids I've used in the past didn't seem to have nearly as much trouble keeping up, and were much more pleasant to deal with, so I'll be going back to them next year without hesitation.
