In our quest to bring our peach-and-mint-green ‘80s-era living / dining room into the 21st century, Badr Gebara of blu Dot interiors became our extremely knowledgeable, warm and trusted guide. She packed many easy-to-achieve tips into her initial design consultation, helped us select beautiful engineered hardwood flooring, steered us toward sophisticated and comfortable furniture and lighting choices, encouraged the use of crown moulding – a great investment – and brought in wonderful partners like Mike Pagnutti of Quality Painting. In the end, we decided to renovate almost all ground floor rooms. I now realize that when doing a renovation project – even if it costs only a few thousand dollars – you would be crazy not to consult an interior designer. It would be like doing your business taxes without an accountant. Our home is our main financial investment. Badr’s fees, in our case, amounted to about 3% of the total project cost and yet, if we had not had her advice, we would have certainly made some costly mistakes.
