Fixer On The Roof

Rich was sent to our place to evaluate if our roof leak could have been caused by the Toronto ice storm. Since our leak our insurance company sent a roofer to tarp our roof for emergency care. We explained all of this. When he came we was quite friendly and stated that he would go above and beyond for the home owner. His report stated otherwise! He deemed the roof was caused by the nails used to tarp our roof (LOL) and called it faulty worksmanship (which now the insurance company will not cover the cost of repair) My question is 1) if it was faulty worksmanship how come we never had a leak before or after the big ice storm? 2) how can the cause of the leak be the nails use to tarp the roof when that was done after the leak occured??? Rich seems like a nice enough person but clearly in the pockets of the big insurance companies and NOT looking out for the little guy. Because of his erroneous assessment it is costing us over $20,000 in repairs to the roof alone, not withstanding the interior repair costs. My recommendation is that Rich and fixer on the roof do not listen and seem to just go through the motions.

The roof in our mudroom was leaking after a fast thaw in February. We contacted FOTR because we saw they had great reviews. We contacted the office and immediately heard back from Trish and had someone come out super fast.
We paid $450 for the repair but because it didn't hold up (their 90 day guarantee) we were issued a FULL refund. Its been a tough, long winter and we will require more in-depth work than just a fix.

I phoned Fixer on the Roof at 5:30 pm to report my leaky ceiling. I received a phone call back half an hour later from Rick Barr. He explained what he thought the issue would be and told me he could come by and take a look the next morning. Rick came at 9am, just like he told me he would, with all his supplies ready to repair the leak. He was a pleasure to work with, efficient and very reasonably priced. Rather than suggesting that we completely rip out the skylight (as another contractor had) he recommended a tune up that would last me 3 years before I would have to replace the skylight and shingle system. Rick took before and after pictures and sent them to me showing the work that had been done on the skylight, flashing and loose shingles. I'm incredibly impressed!

We noticed a leak coming down through our second floor ceiling. I took a look at the roof and wasn't able to diagnose the issue myself. Rick was friendly and professional. He removed the ice dams in our eavestroughs, re-sealed the flat part of our roof which was causing problems, and performed a couple other minor repairs. He also identified a couple of unrelated issues that we'll need to repair in the near future.

We had some ice damming issues on our flat roof that leaked right into our basement. Fixer on the roof was prompt and efficient, came and fixed the problem.
They removed snow and ice from the roof, and they came and did the work in extreme cold conditions. They also provided us with pictures of before and after.

A Raccoon burrowed into my roof while I was out of town (my neighbour sent me pictures) and Trish was able to coordinate with a removal service and Rick patched up the hole afterwards.
