The Garage Door Depot

I used the Garage Door Depot for the second time now in Scarborough. Their pricing is very competitive, and their garage door quality is very good. They are very professional to deal with, you always get a written quote with no pressure to buy anything from them. They show up for installation on time and the finished product is quite impressive. Customer Service is outstanding as well. I would recommend them to anyone looking to install a garage door.

From the time it took for an on-site estimate to the installation (first installation day) was almost 2 months. This seemed really long to me, but I accepted it as it was said to be a busy time of year for garage door installations.

The process on getting a set date for installation was a bit frustrating, as the first suggested date did not work. Therefore, I had asked if the following week was available, which they said yes, and I was booked in for the following week Friday. On the Tuesday of the week of installation, I received a call asking if the next week would work for installation instead of the date that was booked. The appointment was booked 3.5 weeks in advance, and I had made arrangements to be available during that time. Needless to say, changing it did not work. I felt this was disorganized and not acceptable to call 3 days prior asking to move it, stating they were over booked and didn't want to pay their people overtime. I was insistent that the installation date had to remain. They honored it and came out on the day and time previously booked.
After 3 hours of installing, I was told that they didn't have a roller, and couldn't complete the installation. The door was installed but the opener couldn't be without that part. We booked another time for Monday early evening for them to come back and finish. Then when they came to finish it, there was a bend in the bracket, so the installation of the opener couldn't be completed. I was asked when they could come back to complete the installation, stating I didn't need to be there for them to complete it. However, I wanted to be there for assistance with setting my vehicle garage door buttons to be programmed, as I'd had difficulties with that in the past and wanted help from the experts.

I was told they could come back the next day (Tuesday) during the day to complete the installation but then would come back again on Wednesday, early evening, to help with this. And that they would put in my file that I would get a free annual inspection to make up for all the issues.

They did finish the door opener installation on Tues, and it worked when I got home. On Wednesday, I waited for them to come to help with the vehicle button setting, but they didn't show. I sent an e-mail that night asking if I got the nights mixed up (they weren't but thought I would give the benefit of the doubt), 3 days later still no response to the e-mail.

Additionally, on Tuesday morning they already took the final payment, without any sign off from me or knowing if the garage door opener worked at this point.

Very disappointing experience overall.

They did what they said that they would do and for the price I was quoted. They were done on time, cleaned up after themselves. I was very pleased with their workmanship.

There was a large opening that they closed. The springs and rollers all had to be replaced. Actually just about everything. It was very expensive, but I am very pleased with the workmanship.

Rob and John were exceptional at taking on and completing this project. The buildings they were working on were very old farm buildings, a machine shop and a smaller garage, and it took a bit of figuring as to what door opening mechanics would work best. John's engineering skills were put to good use in that respect. They were prompt and were here when they said they would be. They always called or notified us to ensure that the time and dates were satisfactory to us.
These doors were custom made in cedar and so had to be ordered. While that took a bit longer than was promised, time was of no consequence to us. The beauty of the doors was incredible. Jason, who was also an installer with John, was very punctual, reliable and courteous. The weather during installation was very hot, but they worked hard for three days, taking out the old, piling the old doors and hardware into their truck and disposing of it for us and then installing the new. One of the overhead door openers was not able to be used because of the configuration of our shop, so they replaced it, no charge, with a side mount opener. Many more little details were included and overall, after using these beautiful doors for the past 3 months, we are still in awe of how gorgeous they look on our old buildings. They have truly improved our little farm.

These guys came out to my site the same day Icalled them and the technician found the problem(broken spring) pretty much right away and fixed it within an hour. He had all the supplies necessary and he even programmed the opener to sync with my cars built in garage door button for no cost. highly recommend these guys over the competition(the other guys told me that I would have to wait 2 days before they could even asses my situation).

Rob and John from Garage Door Depot went out of their way to ensure the success of this project. Rob was at the house 3 times and consulted with the heating and vent fellow to ensure that the new configuration would work. The door was installed on time with no hitches, which was contrary to what another company had said could be done. Highly recommended.

Very courteous and professional. They arrived on time, were fully and properly prepared, did a thorough job and cleaned up the site on completion. Explained everything regarding the operation of the new opener and keypads so there were no surprises. Received a follow up the next day to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. They definitely exceeded my expectations - I fully recommend them due to their commitment to excellence, their honesty and their technical and mechanical abilities. I am fully satisfied with their work to say the least.
About one month before the booked time for the new door installation I experienced a garage door spring failure and my wife's car was trapped in the garage. They came out right away and fixed it for free. I simply can't say enough to fully express my gratitude to Rob and John at the Garage Depot.
