Company owner Chris Armstrong, crew chief Germaine, and the rest of the Ontario Basement Lowering team provided excellent service, were very professional and did a spectacular job when we had our basement lowered by two feet, new underpinning installed, water and sewage replaced, and a new concrete floor poured. He was very thorough and before the project got underway explained different options and costs, patiently answered all of our many questions, and outlined what to expect during the whole process. He also did a great job of smoothly coordinating other individuals that needed to be involved at various stages (e.g. plumber, city building inspector, the concrete floor gang, etc). At each phase Chris' team made sure we were satisfied with the results, and they were able to accommodate our design adjustments during construction. They were punctual, hard-working, extremely efficient, responsive to our requests, polite and well-mannered and were a pleasure to have on our property. They were also respectful of our neighbours and their property. The results are exemplary, and we couldn't be more pleased. The project was completed on time and on budget - exactly as it had been quoted. We've had a very positive experience dealing with Chris Armstrong and Ontario Basement Lowering, and we'd highly recommend them to others who are looking for this type of service.

Chris Armstrong was very helpful and explained everything in detail. He and his team, including Jermaine were very professional and got the job done on time and on budget. We had the basement dug out, gravel and waterproofing added, drainage and rough in for a bathroom put in, an on demand water system, new furnace and a sump pump. They poured a very smooth floor. They started the work when they said they would, and finished in 3 weeks as promised. We chose keep the basement ceiling at its current level because it's close to 8' tall.

I would happily recommend them to anyone who needs basement work done. Even though, in the end, we didn't underpin or bench, I now have a good understanding of the pros and cons of both methods.

We received a few quotes for the job and Chris’ was in the middle. What differentiated him from all the other companies we called, however, was his knowledge of the job and ability to explain to us the scope of work and our options. This gave us comfort in Chris’ experience ability to execute. We were very pleased he was able to meet all of our demands before, during and after the job, and offer us cost-saving suggestions where possible. We felt we got very good service for the money.

For us, it was the little things Chris and his team did very well that mattered: The free quote and the multiple site visits he put in up-front before asking us for any money or to sign a contract; arranging other professionals to help in the early stages of work, getting the plans created and submitted to the City; Chris was always on time for our meetings and very responsive by email, phone and text, always pleasant and personable.

We must make special mention of Chris’ crew. They showed up to our house early every morning ready to work, and were friendly, polite and respectful to us and our neighbours. The crew appeared to have good morale, which we attribute to having a good boss. We were impressed with the condition they left our house in at the end of the day during construction. Every day the jobsite was thoroughly swept, tools put away, everything was organized efficiently, and was made as safe as possible.

We were pleased with the other professionals Chris recommended to us, some of whom we used, some we didn’t. They were all knowledgeable and gave us good ideas and suggestions on how to complete various aspects of the project.

Overall we were impressed by how quickly and efficiently the job was completed. There were no surprises, no work left outstanding, and we are completely satisfied with the job Chris and his crew did. We are happy to offer Ontario Basement Lowering a very high recommendation.

Chris Armstrong takes his work very seriously and has a great deal of technical knowledge to bring to the job (both of which is vital for basement lowering work). His focus is always on doing a proper job and not taking any shortcuts (one example is that he uses the top grade of concrete available for the pins). His crew is also hard working and very pleasant to work with.
