I hired Hockey Maids to do a move out clean on my house, and chose them after reading all the great reviews on Homestars. The initial process was great, I spoke to Ted who provided me with a quote for 4 hours, which I agreed to (although I did tell him that was the top of my budget and I would be very annoyed if the cleaners decided to charge me more on the day). Ted was able to fit me in quickly due to a cancellation, so I could get my home listed. The cleaners arrived on time, and got to work after I showed them the areas that needed to be cleaned. Unfortunately, that is where the positive aspects stop. After only an hour of cleaning one of the cleaners asked me if it would be ok to do more hours, and I said it was not unless they absolutely needed it after the 4 hours, but to confirm it with me first. Without confirming it with me the cleaners decided to spend 6 hours on cleaning the home. That amounts to 12 hours of one person cleaning, so I expected to come home to a brand new home. I did not. Light switches had not been cleaned, baseboards were still dirty, one couch had not been touched, and the dining room lamp had not been dusted, and more. I had also paid for the carpet clean but came home to see two very clear spots that were still there, so either they charged me for a service they didn't provide, or they were lazy. I took advantage of their 24 hours guarantee and had them come back in to redo those areas, but this should not have been necessary after 6 hours! Furthermore they still did not get the spots out, and I had to get their manager to come out and ensure they were out. All in all this was a costly and stressfull service, that felt like bait and switch. Although Ted helped afterwards, he should not have had to, and I definitely do not feel that I got my $690 worth of cleaning!
