Distinctive Designs Landscaping

Attention: Anyone who wants an amazing job for a reasonable cost

I am a HomeStars believer and prior to leveraging the insights on this website, I was rolling the dice like any unknowing/trusting person out there. I found several good landscaping companies but landed on the GREAT one - Distinctive Designs. In fear of people losing interest in my review and not reading on, I am going to get right to the point of why I chose Kurt and how amazing he and his crew are (they need a TV show!)

Why:
1. He was ON TIME when we scheduled our meeting and was very specific when walking me through the nuances of the proposed project.
2. He provided me with a detailed cost breakdown of all aspects of the job so I could make an informed decision and get the end result my wife and I were looking for.
3. He was able to show me with a 3D walkthrough WHAT the project would look like. Like everyone, we work hard for our money and want all confidence that our expectations will be met.
4. In a world of one hit wonders, Kurt was able to impress upon me that he was committed to doing a great job that he would stand behind.
5. He was awesome through emails - finally a contractor that is good with technology!
What did his team do that impressed me (other than the fantastic job - see pictures)
1. Respectful crew who not only cared about the job, but our home and property as well. They also have a very high sense of pride over their work.
2. No short cuts - They spent the time preparing the yard prior to doing the work (e.g. weeping tile installed to protect pergola walls)
3. Top grade equipment - I don't know but it makes me feel good when I see the people I trust to have all the bobcats, trucks, tools that I would expect a reputable company to have
4. Communication - this should have been #1 but Kurt ALWAYS kept me in the loop and was awesome every time I had a question or wanted to make an adjustment
5. Ownership - Kurt was there for all of the work and every key milestone (e.g. inspection, installation etc) and I absolutely never worried about anything (my profession is to be skeptical so it wasn't easy). He was also great about providing suggestions which was perfect considering he does this as a profession, I'll do this once or twice in my lifetime.

Summary of what was done (80x200 backyard):
1. Removal of existing garden beds
2. Removal of 500 basketball and larger sized boulders
3. Prepare yard for new sod/patio/sprinkler system
4. New fence on south side + 2 gates
5. 65 6" cedars planted around yard
6. Hardscaping
7. Covered Pergola
8. Built in BBQ
9. Fire Pit
10. Gas and Electrical work
