Their service is a rip off do not use this company! The Service4Appliances technician ran some standard tests (cost of $280.00) and then tried to sell me a 3rd party part (additional cost of $165.00) that he thought would fix the fridge, instead of the original Whirlpool part (cost of $65.00). I declined this option and after some intensive research I learned that these 3rd party parts can be purchased online for approximately $45.00 but are not recommended for use in any fridge!
Further to that he would not guarantee that the part he suggested to be replaced would even fix the fridge and stated, "it may be a short in the compressor".
I called the customer service department to voice my concern and was told flat out that they stand behind their service technicians and would do nothing for me. So after spending over $300 dollars for what amounted to a 1 hour service call my fridge is still not repaired.
Also don't be sucked in by their marketing ploy of waving the $80.00 inspection fee if you have them repair your appliance. From my experience it is a hook to get you to have them try to service your appliance at a rate of $280/hr and not provide any customer satisfaction.
- Approximate cost of services:
- $316.40
- What could this company do to improve their services?
- Provide customers with some honest cost saving choices rather than try to cut corners and be more transparent about their service charges and parts they use.
- Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
- Contact the appliance manufacturer and ask for their recommendations on several local appliance repair companies. Then contact these companies and ask for their hourly rate and if they use original parts. Don't fall for the gimmicks!
