College Pro Painting - Edmonton

The College Pro Painting rep came out to our home and gave an estimate to re-stain our cedar deck. I have done it myself about every 5 years since it was built in 1993 but the prep work is backbreaking so I decided to go with College Pro based on the eager personality of the rep who came to our house. She promised they would scraped off all the loose stain, sand all the surfaces and apply 2 coats of stain. She came back personally the day before the job was to begin and pressure washed the deck and told us the rest of the job would take about 2-3 days because of all the sanding and scraping required, we gave her a $500 deposit. A couple of days later they arrived after my wife and I had both left for work and when I got home at mid-afternoon that day they were gone and a coat of stain had been applied. No sanding or scraping had been done! She arrived at out door that evening saying the job was done and wanted to be paid the remaining $500. I n the end they came back 3 more times and made 1/2 hearted and useless attempts to salvage the already ruined job. It is now 1 year later and the stain is peeling off the deck in sheets and our phone calls to request a rep come out and evaluate have gone un-answered. This company is a shoddy bunch of rip off artists. Don’t get taken for a ride like we did.

Hired this company in mid-April to paint the entire exterior of my house. Quote was the same as another student painting company and only went with this company because they accepted credit cards (yay for points). The agreement was to begin painting the first or second week of May, pending weather conditions, the first week goes by (beautiful warm weather) and I had still not received a call. After numerous calls and messages, I receive a phone call from another gentleman that told me the original person I had made the agreements with no longer worked with college pro. At this point they made an effort to accommodate a reasonable time frame to paint the whole house before my in-laws arrived the next month which was much appreciated. Two days before painting was to begin, they sent someone with a pressure washer to wash the house, however they did NOT properly wash the house, they stood there on the ground spraying towards the house instead of being within a foot to get the grit off (and standing on a ladder). They had done such a terrible job that the day after I went out with my own pressure washer and did the worst areas (areas where there was a lot of dirt that just got sprayed onto the house from the water...) - For whatever reason I did not complain (it usually takes quite a bit for me to complain/give a bad review).

They were accommodating when we decided to change the colour of the house after seeing the test-patch (before they bought the large cans of paint) and even made recommendations themselves.

However when they started painting, I had asked them to ensure that since they were painting siding, to get in between the gaps so when it gets cold out and the siding shifts, you don't see the old paint. Needless to say, the week after this occurred, they came out and fixed it - but after mentioning to them (again) that they still hadn't gone in between the gaps - they assured me that it will be fine. Fast forward to winter and my house now looks terrible. I should have just not cheaped out and gotten new siding like I originally intended.

Stay away - their students need better training, and perhaps a lesson in the importance of keeping their word when others are depending on them.

A Deposit was required which I still have not gotten back. I asked for it to be refunded as they broke the contract. I asked for a primer coat in Oil to adhere to existing oil product used. After the contract was signed, said 1st)there are no oil primers, 2nd)if an oil primer was going to be used I'd have to pay for it totally, 3rd)told the painter if I was insisting on an oil primer a section of the project wasn't to be sanded even though I would pay a premium to totally cover the cost of primer and oil is less expensive, 4th) painter said they would repaint after twenty (20) minutes; the paint manufacturer after a call from me told me the paint would fail if a minimum of 4 hours wasn't between coats. Supposedly one of their best painters. Two painting appt.'s no one showed up in good weather(no call), the third time four hours late. That was enough for me.

Brutal, do not deal with this company. Last year we had our triple car garage doors painted, over the winter the paint bubbled and began to chip. Started calling in April of the following year and was told warranty accepted, it's now July and no one responds to my calls. At one point they booked a n appointment but didn't show up, complete sham!

I am not totally happy with the work done. Painters did not try their best. I spotted too many mistakes and had to be looking al the time for imperfections. Eventually, I can sense the painters were mad at me because I kept pointing out stuff to redo. I paid my money and deserved a good job.

We had a very poor experience with this company. They try to say all the right things to get you to sign the contract with them but once they have your signature their customer service goes right out the window.

After they told us it would be at least a three day job they tried to leave after two days with walls not having enough coats of paint and no touch-ups done. When we asked for the job to be properly finished we received nothing but attitude and they still left without the job being completely finished. We ended up having to touch-up all their mistakes ourselves after they rushed out of our home without completing everything.

They rather rush through a job and try to apologize at the end to get your recommendation instead of doing it right the first time. With so many other companies out there to choose from we would recommend avoiding College Pro Painters.

Stay away from this company. You take a real chance with the quality of service that you will receive! My house was a disaster.
Although the owner was highly apologetic it did not make up for the awful way my job turned out. Never again!

The one person who came in to clean was not thorough and I needed to tell her to clean it further. She was very unprofessional when she started to speak about her personal life and future plans. I was no satisfied with the work so I called the manager who was professional and ended up doing it himself. Overall was not pleased with the service.

Exterior of house need repainted. CPP did a great job, very thorough, cleaned site afterwards. Still looks great 5 years later. I would recommend to all my friends and family.

Would never hire again. Conduct was not particularly professional. Power wash wasn't thorough. They were obviously in a rush because they painted a wet deck. We even specifically asked the crew if it was a good idea to paint so soon after it rained. They just waived their hands and dismissed it. The paint started peeling in less than a year. Waste of money.
