Customer service

Vivint is not the alarm company you need or want !!
I had them for 10 years not the greatest at upgrading their systems with out you calling in and complaining every time.
I sold my home in July called to cancel my services, and was hoping to have them in my new home that I was building. But after the bad customer service again! We decided to write and let people know.
We canceled in June they still took money out of my account for 2 months. And continue to call me when the new owners alarm goes off . Instead of going to address and meeting the new owners and see if they can get their business.
I now have to go to bank and do stop payment on vivint and call to get my money back, because customer service doesn’t know how to cancel my account of equipment that I have been paying for over 10 years!
Stay away from this company Vivint alarm sucks save your money and time!!

PROCEED WITH CAUTION

I have had Vivint services for about 7 months now. The system has not been working smoothly ever since. The system was super easy to sign up and buy but support has been a nightmare. There was vandalism and my cameras failed to record during this time. After spending hours trying to get through to support they finally rebooted my system. Everything worked for about two days and I had another issue with trespassing and once again the cameras failed me. Again, I spend hours dealing with support with no solution. They would not send a tech but offered to reboot the system once again. Not even a day later, cameras fail...and I'm on hold with Vivint. Once again we reboot the system and they refuse to send out a tech. They told me if it fails again (4th time in 1 week) then I will need to call back and schedule a tech visit. There are security companies that are more affordable with better support. I chose Vivint because I was under the impression that they were best, hence the high monthly fee. In my opinion, home security should not be taken lightly and the fact that this company does not seem concerned about my family's safety is absolutely offputting. Make sure you do your homework for these guys before you get into any long term contracts.

Great Experience Overall

I’m very pleased with Vivint’s services. They are very detailed the their work details. They always solve any issues immediately. Never have any problems.
I do recommend.
I bought extra equipment from them and their payment plan is exactly what they say it is. No hidden fees or costs.

Worst service and app doesnt work

Vivint is terrible! Do not trust them for your home security. First your locked in a long contract term. 5 years! Second the equipment keeps going offline, cameras don’t record movement no matter what the settings are at, app is horrible, the cameras are almost always offline and not able to fix it, panel will trigger false alarms by itself.
Third Vivint will charge you anytime you request a service call if your equipment is failing or you need help. I needed the screw for the top of my main
panel because when the system was installed they never put one in. One tab was also broke on the top of the control panel so with my garage door slamming all the time(it pulls itself closed) the panel would trigger false tamper alerts and the alarm
It would beep or ring all the time! I had to duct tape the panel to keep it from coming apart. That was the recommendation of Vivint support! But it seems to be holding the main panel together and helping with the false tamper beeping!
I also sent a notice to cancel, you must give 30 days notice in writing with all parties signature on the paper and include the address of service and account number on the letter or email. I sent a notice in February 2019 to cancel service effective the end of my very long 5 year contract expires May 2019! I never got anything back by the end of March so I contacted them again, I sent many emails in to them until finally they got it! I sure didn’t want to have one more month of paying them! I told them that after they take my April payment they are to cancel the automatic withdrawal from my account, they assure me they will and if they happen to bill me in May they will reimburse me! So I guess we will see how that goes because I have heard it can be a nightmare to get them to stop taking money from your account after you cancel. If I have issues I will post again!
Finally, it’s a lot more expensive than other companies for what you get.
I do not recommend them at all! They’re a bunch of fast talking salesman who get you locked in a contract, install equipment quickly and your stuck with junk! I have rode out my contract and I am very very happy to be done with them!

Vivint will never leave

It is now two weeks later....I still have Vivint equipment in my home...two uninstall appointments with no-shows by the Vivint technician. I had an appointment Friday, July 20th to have the equipment removed and the Vivint tech did not show up. I had an appointment today, July 27th to have the equipment removed and the Vivint tech did not show up...AGAIN!!
.....................
I want to cancel services and have equipment removed from my home, but no one at vivint will give me the correct information. I contacted the company the same-day it was installed and the next day to ask again for removal of the equipment and cancellation of the service, and I'm still waiting for the information I need to cancel the service.

They seem great until you need service, then it sucks!

They seemed awesome when I signed up. Then I have a few issues and their customer service was horrible. Not sure if other companies are better but I would not recommend this one anymore.

Our Home was Broken Into

Our home was broken into on November 24th. We had a Vivint Smart Home security system and they failed in every sense!!

They handled our situation so poorly, feel free to share. I would hate to have someone else go through what we have.

- intruder kicked in our front door and ripped the alarm panel from the wall, no signal was sent to us or them
- our home still showed armed away on our phones after the panel was ripped from the wall that day and the next!
- Vivint says they can't be held responsible for "human intelligence", ripping the panel from the wall was not intelligent, it was desperate
- no apology, or attempt to make things right by at least covering our $500 insurance deductible
- only after we cancelled their service did they contact us to ask what they could do to keep us (every option included us needing to extend our contract, as if!!)

I get it, a home can still get broken into even if you have a security system, but we hired this company to monitor our home for exactly this reason. They proved incapable of performing their end of the deal.

If you are prepared to throw your money away and you are comfortable with a false sense of security, perhaps you would like to consider them as your "security" company

Poor products, awful policies, Do not waste your money

Vivint is unwilling to fix their software/hardware issue unless I pay for it.
I have now had my panel and app freeze 3 times while trying to unarm it, resulting in the alarm going off for several minutes. If my security system is faulty it is doing a terrible job keeping my family secure

Nice system if it worked

This system is awesome when it works. I have a lot of equipment through vivint, the install was free and equipment was free on a 5 year contract. I've had this alarm system for 2 years now, I have thermostat, door locks, flood sensor, doorbell cam and 2 indoor cams and a bunch of other stuff. Well my garage got vandalized and I checked the doorbell cam to see if I could catch the guy, camera was offline, then age few things got taken out of my yard and once again the camera malfunctioned, a week later someone was at my door so I logged in to see who it was and once again the camera was not working. It's malfunctioned about 8 times already. My one indoor camera hasn't worked for 2 months and I'm sick of sitting on hold waiting for them to tell me how to fix it. My basement flooded and my flood sensor malfunctioned and didn't save the day, on occasion my thermostat screws up and either doesn't shut the heat off or doesn't turn it on, my door lock quite often malfunctions and indicates unlocked when it's actually locked or vice versa.
Vivint did at one point tell me they would send service people over to see why nothing works but they also told me I would have to pay for their service people to repair their equipment.

I don't like paying for stuff that doesn't work but they got me on a contract. In lighter news, my parents have a system with vivint that hasn't caused them any trouble

Be careful with what you sign up

Their cancellation policy is 30 days notice and you will have to pay the whole month fee even Vivint just provide service for just 1 day within the last month. This is how they treat a 4 year-long customer. On top of that, you need to send them a formal letter with your signatures to request the cancellation in addition to a phone call.

When I complained this to a self-claimed account manager, she was no more helpful than a janitor in Vivint. All she can do is to relay the policy that I signed back in 2012.

Never again Vivint!
