Avalanche Plumbing and Appliances

Terrible experience dealing with the staff during our appliance problems. The repair man did not seem to know what he was doing and didn't have the parts or tools required even after 3 visits. The office staff were just as unorganized. Being diplomatic didn't help and I got nowhere when I got tough with them.

hired these guys to plumb in and install a compact washer/drier for $850 (which turned out high). didn't finish the job on first visit but billed our credit card for full amount. Came by a second time and billed our credit card another $200+ without our knowledge or authorization. Won't return calls, now have to go to visa to get the charge reversed.

If you need a plumber, this is the company to call. When I called, the phone was answered by a very friendly voice. Ashley listened to my problem and told me she would send help my way within the hour. The plumbers arrived in under 1 hour. Chris and Ryan were awesome. They too, listened to my story and seemed to know right away, what to do. They were professional and polite. They tackled the job in about 10 minutes, and were on their way. I had such a good experience with this company , I highly recommend their service to anyone who likes to be treated with kindness and respect, in a professional manner.

Be VERY VERY VERY careful when booking a service call. They will charge you the following:
1. $75 call out / site visit fee
2. Diagnosis fee ($25/15 min)
When booking I asked specifically if the diagnosis fee was to be waived if I elected to go ahead and do the job and I was told "yes". This is not however the case. Whether you elect to do the repair or not these two fees are in fact charged. In speaking to the company representative (who was polite and listened well)I was told this must have been my misunderstanding and that what is "waived" is a second $75 site visit fee when coming back with the part to do the repair. Interesting they refer to second visit resulting from having no part a fee waiver. Clearly this is misleading. Given they must diagnose a problem to actually repair it, it should be waived if the client chooses to go ahead and do the repair. It makes sense to charge for this if the client declines the repair but their alternative is disappointing and just a money grab. I asked to have the fee waived as an exception and was told no. Bottom line I went ahead and will pay them $550 ish (part was $260 and install was 45 min). I will update this review once they complete the job. I called two other repair depots in Calgary who both waived the diagnosis fee and only charged the call out fee if they ended up doing the job. Best to go elsewhere imho

Avalanche is the authorized service repair for Sears Appliances since Sears outsourced their service. Before Sears outsourced we had always had great service from Sears but not any more

Our front load washer broke in early August. We contacted Sears on Aug 15 and they dispatched the call to Avalanche who contacted us within the 48 hour window (closer to the 48 side). They then made the first appoint to come check the washer a full 10 days after it had broken. They then ordered the part which Sears advised us was shipped 4 business days later. It is now 15 days since Sears says the part was shipped and Avalanche has still not called to even schedule the appointment to repair. We have called them repeatedly to ask about the part and they say they just received a large shipment and are looking to see if its there and will call us back. They never do. It has been 1 month since the washer broke and we are estimating another several weeks before they even install the part. A family of 5 without a washer for 2 months = never buying from Sears again and this review about Avalanche's service. Sears needs to step up and find other authorized repairers in this area as Avalanche is clearly too busy to effectively service the demand.

Thanks guys for saving my Easter! Called avalanche to have my stove repaired they sent out a repair man right away and had the problem fixed with in one hour. Called other repair companies and they told me someone could be out in about 3 days... But avalanche was there promptly to help us out. The avalanche repair man was very help full and knowledgable. Our dishwasher broke down, and a technician from Avalanche was over to fix it within 24 hours. It turned out, that the part was a recall, so we only had to pay for the service. The dishwasher broke down a second time, and again, Avalanche was by within 24 hours. It turned out it was just a short, and the repair was made within 15 minutes. Wonderful service!
