Surface Works took my full payment for counter top and one week before the installation, told me that my stone is in back order. They had no problem accepting the money and nobody checked the status when they accepted the money.
I had to work with the stone supplier myself. They finally booked a tentative appointment and one day before the appointment i called to confirm the time and i was told they still dont have a status update.
Nobody bothered to give me any updates. Tatyana does not return calls or emails.
Do not recommend anyone use this company. Worst customer service, incompetent and irresponsible staff.

Deficiencies:
chipped cabinets, chipped countertop, counter staining, chipped floors, faucet cut off center, poor edge polishing.

We are so disappointed with the quality of the installation and the company's refusal to take responsibility for their actions or reimburse any of the installation cost.

IKEA please stop using this installer!

We met Paul at the Home Improvement Trade Show, Oct 2011. We were very impressed with Paul's professionalism and knowledge of his trade.

Paul took the time to explain in detail the process, the time line, the costs involved and selection of colors available. We were impressed immediately with the fact that it would SAVE THOUSANDS in renovation costs, there would be NO Construction Mess, and after 24 hours we would could use our kitchen counters again. We went ahead and made an appointment to have our kitchen counters and back splash resurfaced before the Christmas Holidays.

Paul arrived prompt and as scheduled.

Paul was very meticulous and covered all the kitchen appliances, the sinks, the kitchen cabinets and floor. "NO Construction Mess" before the holidays. Within several hours our 15 years old, horribly stained kitchen counters and back splash were resurfaced to a beautiful granite stone finish with the color Paul recommended that perfectly complimented our cabinets and floor. The finish turned out to look so real, better than we could imagine.

During the Christmas Holidays we had alot of traffic on our kitchen counters and the durability was incredible. Again like Paul said: "Its resists stains, chipping, marring and scratches."

I lready made another appointment to resurface our bathroom vanity, floor and bathroom tub and surrounding tiles.

We recently had our kitchen counter resurfaced to a granite stone finish by SurfaceWorks Restoration. We were impressed with Paul’s professionalism as both salesperson and technician. Paul took the time to explain the process and review the colour selection and finishes with us. Impressed with what we saw, we went ahead and had it done. SO GLAD WE DID! Paul did an amazing job. The counter turned out better than we could have imagined and is as durable as Paul said it would be. The colour Paul recommended is absolutely perfect and goes well with our cabinets and tile floor. We would highly recommend this company to anyone.

I've tried to address my concern directly with the owner without success and was told me to remove this posting or else something would happen to me and my family.

I submitted a complaint with the Better Business Bureau regarding my outstanding issues with this company.

The Better Business investigated and wrote back the following "The company operates under several alias name such as Surfaceworks, Surface Works Inc. Surface Works Canada, Surface Works Restoration. The address on their website is now showing 15 Gardi Court Maple Ontario L6A 1E3."

One of the representative at the Better Business Bureau commented that the owner is not willing to cooperate.

This makes me very suspicious about the validity of the two other comments.

Attached are pictures to show the poor workmanship done by this company. Less than 30 days after the baths were painted white the paint started to peel off making the bath unusable. The bottom of the baths feels very rough as they were not clean right prior to being spray. Also when you look at the baths closely you could still see the old colour of the bath through as they ran out of pain.

I also advised Paul and Neil that since they did not show up twice as agree I had new hardwood floor installed the week prior to their visit, they neglected to cover the hardwood floor and they damaged it during the restoration of my baths. As a result, my new hardwood floor now looks cloudy and there is no more shine to the floor.

In addition, I was overcharged and I was told in writing that a check is in the mail. I never received my check from Paul or Neil.

I am now facing major cost to have the baths remove and the new hardwood floor fixed.

BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DEALING WITH THOSE INDIVIDUALS AS PAUL AND NEIL HAVE NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTY AND THE COMPANY HAS NOT BEING LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE THEY HAVE CAUSE IN MY HOUSE.

This was a Kijiji Deal of the Day on August 10, 2011 - a similar deal was also sold on Wagjag.

We bought the deal that day and were prepared to proceed immediately.
The regular price was supposedly $345 . At the time I also purchased a new replacement sink which had to wait for their work to be installed and shutoff valves for the changeover.

However it took the company 2 weeks to arrange an appointment until Aug 26 and then only after I had reminded them 3 times. The person (Paul) whose name I was given was to call me back and did not. When I finally got him he said the eartliest he could do it would be Tuesday October 4th.

I left a message confirming their appointment and that I would be ready on Oct 2nd. Late on Oct 3 he called me back and asked to change to Oct 5th between 8 and 9 am.after I had already removed the sink.

He never showed up or returned my calls or emails after that. My bathroom sink was sitting on the floor waiting for him for 5 days. 4 emails to the company were returned as undeliverable.

Late on Oct. 6th I contacted Kijiji after many attempts to contact Paul or the company. They confirmed they were looking into it and have not got back to me further yet.

The company offers a five year warranty but their email is not working and you have only a phone # which is almost always answered by a fairly aprupt message.
They do not have any address listed on their website (again a warning signal) - however through googling I was able to find the following.

There is a back story to all this involving the sale of the company but I have no way to evaluate wether it is completely true. However at this point I am willing to give Paul the benefit of the doubt.

On November 23rd Paul finally came and redid the counter. He came back from the previous week to bring the finish my wife preferred. He did a good job masking and prepping the work area. It is important to note that the countertop he was refinishing while lightly used was between 15 and 25 years old. His work both improved the original finish and made it look brand new. Based on the problems and delay I originally gave them a zero rating. After the work was finished I am changing it to a 5. I am satisfied with the look and workmanship. The performance of the material will take time to evaluate. We are considering further work on other counters. If it had not been for the delays and problems I would have given them an 8 or 9.

The photos were taken less than an hour after Paul finished. We still have to wait 24 hours for it to cure then recaulk around it and reinstall the sink.
