Woulda, coulda, shoulda!!! Wished we’d checked online reviews before dealing with Bath City (Kingston Road location). Our toilet was broken and after looking at a couple big box stores we visited them and placed order for a brand new toilet which they said should take 1 – 2 weeks; at end of 2nd week I called to check the order and was told the item was in store and they’d called and left message. No message was left of that I am absolutely positive about but no biggie, we’d come down and pick it up. While loading the toilet into the vehicle, it ‘accidentally’ slipped from one of them that it was actually a floor model. When I objected, one of them stated there was another inside that a customer had ordered but hadn’t yet picked up so they went and got that one from the basement. Outside, I could see the box was deeply covered in dirt and dust. With concerns rising, I asked if an all-important flange was also included; the store-hand/helper then opened the box to check, and a good thing too, because inside what was supposed to be a factory inspected & packed box, sitting right on top of the thing was a half smoked cigarette butt! Hesitantly and a bit stumped, we took the toilet and drove a little ways up the road, about a block, when everything told me to turn around. When I got back to the store (no more than 10-15 minutes later) I explained I was no longer comfortable with the purchase and asked to cancel it. Immediately the fellow there declared in that case I’d have to pay a restocking fee and then promptly left the store. Restocking fee for what? It wasn’t a special order, just something laying about for God knows how long plus we hadn’t been out of the store with the toilet for any conceivable length of time. To my mind they quite willing to pass of a floor model for a special ordered one - at full price I might add - plus trying to pass off some dusty old thing for brand new, not to mention not appearing to be too bothered about pulling the old switcheroo, one customer to the next!! We wouldn’t have felt so taken had they made just a little effort to meet us somewhere in the middle either by offering to fully cancel the fee or at least split it down the middle. Instead the walls went up and they insisted on a 25% restocking fee. Needless to say we’ll never deal with Bath City again and I WOULD NEVER EVER RECOMMEND ANYONE ELSE DEAL WITH THEM EITHER!!!! P.S: The most honest and genuine thing in the store had to have been the dog!
