Green Bean Landscape Design

We had a particularly difficult landscaping assignment for Nicolette. We own a cottage on an island in Georgian Bay which is at times subject to extreme weather. We were trying to reclaim an overgrown sloped area of rubble near a newly built deck. Nicolette came up with a design (within a week!) for a dry riverbed incorporating indigenous vegetation that looked as though it had always been a part of the beauty of this rugged environment. She provided us with a detailed plan using a combination of plants and river rock, highlighting the granite in the surround-a beautiful, economical and maintenance free solution. Nicolette was a pleasure to work with and was able to bring to life our combined visions. She far exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend her for any project that requires a creative result.

She positively welcomed our own ideas, to which she provided constructive feedback. We had an existing porch and large integrated planters and a few shurbs, trees and flowers that we were happy with. We hired Nicolette to develop a the planting layout and plant/shrub selection for the entire front yard where it was previously grass. We had some pretty specific ideas about what we wanted to keep and reuse in our existing front yard (ie. 3 birch trees and a few other shrubs and flowers that we liked). We also had a pretty good sense of the type of design we wanted, including use of various hard landscaping materials / stone etc but we're pretty clueless about choosing and positioning of the plants.

Nicolette incorporated our design ideas/desires into the plan options and made good use of existing plants and shrubs in the overall design while helping make it look very different from how it started! She demonstrated a strong knowledge of plants and shrubs and this was a key requirement for us in terms of selecting a landscape designer.

We're very happy with the finished result. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Nicolette and would absolutely engage her again for any future landscape projects.

Nikki provided the design and creative initiative for our fantastic front & back yard landscaping completed just recently. We have a small back yard, and though we had ideas of how we wanted to use the space, Nikki's questionnaire allowed us to focus on what was most important. Following a focused session to view the yards and to go over our ideas and responses, Nikki came back within the agreed upon timeframe with 2 sets of plans from which to choose and revise. There was little to revise, she'd captured exactly what we were looking for! Nikki was then able to provide great references for landscapers, and made herself fully available if needed by the team who did the work. Her planting guide was an easy shopping list for filling our new beds, and she has very thoroughly provided maintenance instructions for the years of gardening to come with our new gardens.

We absolutely loved working with Nicolette. I contacted 5 Landscapers initially. Nicolette was the first to respond. After our first meeting we hired her on the spot and cancelled the other meetings. She is warm,sincere and so creative. We weren't really sure what we wanted but through her questions and guidance we created a stellar plan. I presented Nicolette with an inspiration shot for a very rigid but pretty backyard design from Dwell mag, and after talking to me she correctly deduced that what I wanted was something quite different. She found other inspiration shots, and what she came up with was a manicured slice of Provence. My previous interactions with landscapers had been very disappointing and then Nikki was recommended to me by a friend. Working with Nikki was a fabulous experience! She was so enthusiastic during our meetings, very attentive to my vision for the yard, and extremely knowledgeable about landscape design and plants. She put so much effort into drawing up the plans and revising them after we discussed them. She was also very helpful in getting competitive quotes for the job and in helping me decide which company to go with. We worked with Nikki on a redesign of our small (tiny) city backyard. The small size of our yard, as well as the irregular angles of our lot made it a particularly challenging project (we felt) that required very good design. Nikki listened to our wants and needs and incorporated them into a fantastic design. Nikki was able to connect us with reputable contractors to implement her design. Having such a good design for a small space has made our space feel much, much larger, more usable and more enjoyable. Nikki is a complete pleasure to work with, she brings care and passion to all she does, and she is a true design professional!
