I had a 14 year old original shingle roof that was in need of replacement. I am in a middle of the row townhouse with neighbors on either side. I did thorough research on the shingle brands, installation methods, where installers cut corners, etc. I interviewed almost 8 companies in the process with a wide range of quotes. I ultimately decided to go with DVR based on their feedback on this site, the shingle brand they were using (Certainteed Landmark, which based on general consensus in the roofing community and in my experience is way superior to comparable IKO, BP and GAF shingles), and the fact that they provided full roof underlayment in addition to ice and water shield (something few installers were offering).Their price was right in the middle of the range I received which gave me comfort.
I was finally able to convince 4 out of the 6 neighbors in our townhouse row to go with DVR and each were satisfied with their service. On the promised date of installation, Dimitri and Victor showed up right on time. They don't seem rushed on the job and I liked the fact that they took their time with the installation and ultimately produced good result which is way superior to the original builder-supplied roof.
All in all, I am happy with the quality of work and I wish Dimitri and Victor all the best with their business.

- Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
- Ask what shingle brand the installer is providing. Ask about full roof underpayment. Ask the roofer to assess the existing attec ventilation. If you are in a townhouse like me, don't be afraid to take the initiative in speaking to all of your neighbours and lead the discussions with roofing companies. Ultimately, it is best if the entire townhouse roof is replaced at the same time by the same installer so that you don't have finger pointing if there is ever a leak with each roofer blaming the other one.
