Widened cement step and applied Jewel Stone to front porch
I wanted to resurface my concrete porch as salt had eaten away at it over the past 6 years. I initially spoke to natural stone contractors, but decided on jewel stone as it would be more durable and cost effective. I called two companies, and received a quick response from Angelo at Family Jewel Stone. Angelo came by a few days later to measure and show us examples of his work. I asked for references and he gave me two. I wanted to speak to the other contractor so I told Angelo I'd get back to him. After seeing Angelo's previous work and receiving a much higher quote from the other contractor, I hired Angelo. He began work the next weekend and arrived on time. His father-in-law who's a cement specialist, increased the size of our front door step, while Angelo prepped the cement and applied the basecoat. The next day, Angelo arrived on time and completed the porch to my liking. I liked how Angelo took our suggestions and offered advice when he thought it would be better. There were areas of the porch where he could have been more precise, but for the price and for what was done, I am happy with it. Angelo created a custom colour and allowed me to help with marking the grout lines, which I enjoyed.
- Approximate cost of services:
- $1,650.00
- What could this company do to improve their services?
- Be more precise when applying the jewel stone along the brick wall, as there were gaps and the original cement porch could be seen underneath. I was able to hide this by applying masonary caulking to the corners.
- Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
- I recommend being home when the work is done so you can choose the pattern and colour blend you like.
