Alair Homes Forest Hill

We chose Alair to help us build an addition to our home, having used them before to completely renovate the existing structure. And, as before, we were incredibly happy with the process and the outcome. Alair's general approach is something that appealed to us, but their project managers add to the overall experience. In our case, Andrew P. ensured that we were taken care of from beginning to end, communicating consistently and openly along the way. He was there to ensure all the details were taken care of and that our priorities were considered at every step. We'd use Alair again, and feel very confident in recommending them to anyone we know.

Andrew and David are intelligent, articulate and very knowledgable in their respective field. They delivered a great product, their trades were very professional and worked well within the confines of our tight schedule. The tile work is some of the best I have ever seen. We had difficult patterns to work with and the work is beyond our wildest dreams. The tile installation was more than a drop in the bucket.... It was an ACE!!!

Andrew and Nuno brilliantly managed the demo and rebuild of our south wall with professionalism, kindness and quality. Nuno advised each time a new tradesman was arriving, when, what their name was, and how long they would be there. Nuno would then inspect each element and, on the rare occasion, if needed, would ask for elements to be redone if it didn't meet or exceed his standard. These are things that we may never have noticed, but gave us confidence that we where getting the best work, not just the fastest. The siding/roofer Chuck is the best I have ever come across. His work is outstanding and now we want to redo the rest of our house. The end result is perfect and exactly what we hoped for and value for the money. Andrews sensitivity with our budget was so appreciated. Highly recommended.

From our first initial visit with Andrew, to the end result, we were very impressed with Black General contracting. Andrew was able to provide us with ideas and insight into our project that helped guide us to make an addition that is both functional and attractive. He was able to stay within our budget, and was very fair with any add-ons that we decided on. His crew were friendly, considerate of the neighbours and tidied well each day. Aside from a few little loose ends, the job was done in the time frame provided. The workmanship was fantastic. We've had so many compliments on our new space! We'd use Black General Contracting again and have recommended Andrew and his team to many friends.

I've known both the guys since high school but I wouldn't use anyone else, even if I wasn't their friend. In the end it comes down to trust with any company and I trust them completely. I'm in the process of using them now for some windows, floor renovation, and new doors. They're awesome guys and workers.

They did a fairly major cosmetic renovation of our house (we refreshed the house from top to bottom and they also redid 4 bathrooms) after they were referred to us by our architect. It took longer than we thought it would but it’s hard to judge how much was caused by us and how much by them (the blame is shared on both sides). We were very happy with the work but they need to supervise some of their subcontractors while they're working (for example, we had a situation with the tiling company). They really should have checked up on it at the time instead of needing to come back afterwards to fix the situation.

We had heard about them from a friend who used them and we compared prices with other companies, but their prices were comparable with others and we got a better feeling about them in comparison to others. They did a renovation of the main floor for us and I found them to be very friendly and knowledgeable. My only advice would be that sometimes a little more communication is needed in regards to what's going to happen that day.

When we first moved to Toronto we bought a home that was nearly new but we needed to make some changes, the most significant being that we needed to install a new stove that required a new venting system. They were recommended to me, I found them, they came, gave a quote, and since then I’ve used them many times for anything needed done in the house. What keeps me loyal to them is that clearly they know what they’re doing as far as construction and renovations. They have subcontractors that are top notch. If a mistake has been made they make sure it’s fixed immediately. I’ve never had to worry about the day when the contractors won’t call anymore. They're very responsive and their customer service is the best. I have and will continue to recommend them to others.
